Leontiel’s Greatsword is a Tarnished Pack weapon in Elden Ring, dropped by an NPC invader named Knight Leontiel who appears in Caelid. It stands out for its matador-styled skill, Muleta, which lets you bait attacks, dodge, and punish with strong counters. To own it, you have to hunt down and kill the invader in Starscourge Radahn’s arena.
Quick answer: Defeat Starscourge Radahn, then from the Starscourge Radahn Site of Grace ride Torrent northwest toward the coastal ruins. Keep pushing onto the sand until you are dismounted and Knight Leontiel invades. Kill the invader to receive Leontiel’s Greatsword and the full armor set.

Requirement: Beat Starscourge Radahn first
The invasion only becomes possible after Starscourge Radahn is dead. That fight is a mandatory main-story boss, so if your save already has him defeated, you can skip straight to tracking down the invader. The invasion happens inside his arena in the Wailing Dunes, which is only reachable by clearing his boss battle.
You also need the content unlocked. Leontiel’s Greatsword is exclusive to Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, or to players who bought the Tarnished Pack DLC on other platforms.

How to beat Knight Leontiel
Do not underestimate this invader. The main threat is the cape bait. Leontiel raises a small red cape to goad you into swinging. If you take the bait, the invader sidesteps, spins behind you, and thrusts into your back. This can happen twice in a row, and both hits landing can kill you outright unless your Vigor is high.
When the cape comes out, stay defensive and wait for the thrust to launch. Roll the moment the body spins mid-attack, since that spin telegraphs the stab. The weapon has long reach, so rolling away can still get you clipped. Rolling toward the invader is often the safer read.
The easiest approach is pressure. Like most invaders, Leontiel can be stunlocked. A heavy-hitting weapon that staggers repeatedly stops the counters from ever coming out. Status effects also work well, so Scarlet Rot, Frost, or Poison make the fight far more manageable. If you have ranged options such as magic, you can chip a large chunk of health before the invader closes the distance.
Verification: Killing Knight Leontiel drops both the complete armor set and Leontiel’s Greatsword. You will see the item pickups confirm on defeat, and the gear will be in your inventory afterward.
Leontiel’s Greatsword stats and requirements
The weapon leans heavily into Dexterity. It requires 13 Strength and 26 Dexterity to wield one-handed, and Dexterity is the stat you want to invest in for scaling. Upgrades use Somber Smithing Stones.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Greatsword |
| Skill | Muleta |
| FP Cost | 10 (13) |
| Damage Type | Standard / Pierce |
| Weight | 9.5 |
| Physical Attack (base) | 130 |
| Critical | 100 |

| Required Dexterity | 26 |
| Scaling (+0) | Str E, Dex C |
| Scaling (+10) | Str D, Dex B |
| Upgrade material | Somber Smithing Stones |
The greatsword is unique, so you cannot change its affinity or swap the Ash of War. It has no passive effect such as Bleed. Its normal attacks include the standard underhand, overhand, and horizontal slashes, plus an alternate, more vertical two-handed R1 moveset shared with weapons like the Knight’s Greatsword, Banished Knight’s Greatsword, and the Inseparable Sword.

How the Muleta skill works
Muleta is a stance skill that turns the same red cape trick against your enemies. Hold the stance to raise the cape in a provoking pose, then follow up with a light or heavy input. Each maneuver has invincibility frames on the dodge, but also recovery frames, so timing matters.
- Light attack dodges to the left with a horizontal slash, putting you out of harm’s way with a safe retaliation.
- Heavy attack dodges to the right into a thrust that travels farther and can be charged for more damage.
- A second heavy input dodges right again for an upward thrust that launches smaller enemies.
The counter-heavy playstyle pairs well with talismans that reward holding a stance, and the charged heavy benefits from damage buffs that boost skill damage. That combination makes it a strong pick for Dexterity builds and a tricky weapon to fight against in PvP.
Once the invader is dead and the greatsword is yours, the fastest way to feel out the moveset is to equip it two-handed and practice the cape bait against ordinary enemies. Read the incoming swing, dodge with a light or heavy, and punish. It rewards patience the same way the invader punished yours.
