Lightning God is the Enel-inspired Secret unit that arrived with the Summer Siege update in Anime Expeditions, and it is one of the few characters in the game you cannot pull from a banner. No amount of gem spending will produce it. The only route runs through a long chain of portal challenges, and the payoff is a Storm/Magical carry that stuns entire waves while ramping its own damage by up to 300%.
Quick answer: Craft Lightning God’s Portal with 4 Charged Dust farmed from the Tier 5 Sky Ruins Portal, then host that portal yourself and clear the challenge. Hosting gives a 100% drop; joining someone else’s Lightning God’s Portal drops your chance to 2%.
How to get Lightning God in Anime Expeditions
The unlock is a ladder. Each Sky Ruins portal you clear drops the next tier up, and only the final tier produces the crafting material you actually need.

There is one shortcut worth taking. Instead of grinding the whole ladder solo, you can join another player’s Tier 5 Sky Ruins lobby and farm Charged Dust there. The Anime Expeditions Discord is where most veterans post for Tier 5 partners.
Note: The hosting rule is the single most common reason people finish a Lightning God’s Portal and walk away with nothing. Guests roll a 2% chance. If you want the unit, spend your own portal.
Evolving into Lightning God (Overcharged)
The base unit is only half the character. Evolution unlocks the Stormseeker active ability and the full Overcharged kit, and it costs the following:
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Sprite (Yellow) | 25 |
| Sprite (Blue) | 25 |
| Sprite (Pink) | 25 |
| Sprite (Rainbow) | 3 |
| Ancient Bell | 1 |
| Gold | 10,000 |
Sprites drop from Challenge stages, and you can also craft the colored versions from Sprite (Grey). Ancient Bell is not a drop at all. Open the Crafting Menu, pick the Ancient Bell recipe, and hand over 5 Sprite (Yellow), 5 Sprite (Blue), 5 Sprite (Pink), and 10,000 Gold. That means you need 30 of each colored Sprite in total once the bell is counted.

Add to Google Preferences →Voltage Meter scaling and Lightning God (Overcharged) passives
Everything about this unit runs off one number. Storm Charge gives it a Voltage Meter that starts at 0 and climbs by 1 every time an Electricity Stun triggers, capping at 60. Each point adds 5% Electricity damage, so a fully charged Enel is dealing 300% more Electricity damage than one that just hit the field.
Crucially, you are not left waiting for someone else to apply the stuns. Molten Gold applies Golden to two enemies in range every 10 seconds on its own, which stuns them and widens chain lightning by two extra targets. The meter feeds itself.
| Passive | Effect |
|---|---|
| Storm Charge | Voltage Meter caps at 60. Each Electricity Stun adds 1 point; each point adds 5% Electricity damage. |
| Thundercloud | At 25 Voltage, summons a Storm Cloud every 10 seconds that hits a random enemy in range for 25% of current damage in 5 range, and applies an extra Electricity stack to targets without it. |
| Tempest Discharge | At 60 Voltage, a Lightning Strike lands at the unit’s position for 100% of current damage, applies Electricity to everything in range, and leaves Electric Residue for 8 seconds that keeps Electricity permanently active on enemies standing in it. |
| Molten Gold | Every 10 seconds, applies Golden to 2 enemies in range. Golden stuns for 3 seconds and adds 2 targets to Electricity chain lightning. |
| Stormseeker (active) | Manually pick a position in range for the Storm Cloud to target. 60-second local cooldown. |

Stormseeker only becomes available once the meter passes 25, and it shares its Storm Cloud with the Thundercloud passive. The difference is control. Instead of letting the cloud pick a random enemy, you drop it where the wave is thickest.
Lightning God stats, AoE upgrades, and placement cost
The attack shape changes twice as you upgrade. Enel opens as a circle AoE unit, switches to line AoE at Upgrade 3, and becomes full AoE at Upgrade 9, which is the point where the stun engine starts covering an entire lane rather than a pocket of it.

| Stat | Level 50 base | Max upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| Damage | 5,659 | 34,338 |
| SPA | 4.7s | 5.1s |
| Range | 22.7 | 33.3 |
| Crit Chance | 8% | — |
| Crit Damage | 100% | — |
Placing and fully upgrading Lightning God costs 43,400 in-match currency, which is cheap for a Secret unit and a large part of why it works so well as an early anchor. It allows three placements, and its equipment slots show the Shinigami Sword and Storm Trident. For traits, Unbound is the target, with Draconic as the strong second option.
The trade-off is the ramp. Starting range is short at 17 before upgrades, and the Voltage Meter needs enemies to stun before the damage bonus means anything. On short stages it may never reach 60.
Raid performance and Update 2 tier list placement
Fully upgraded and fully charged, Lightning God (Overcharged) can solo Spirit City Act 3 on Hard Mode. The full AoE attack plus recurring Golden stuns means most of a wave spends its time frozen in place while chain lightning and Storm Clouds grind it down.
It sits in S Tier for the Update 2 meta, though not at the very top. Sovereign (Djinn), the other Secret unit added alongside it, hits harder on single-target boss damage. Enel’s raw numbers are not the highest in the game, and units such as 8th Sword (Berserk) compete on pure output. What Enel offers instead is automatic hard crowd control, chain amplification, extra attack sources, and a cheap upgrade path, which is why it functions as a top-tier support carry rather than a straight damage dealer.

If you are deciding whether the grind is worth it, the deciding factor is how much stalling your team needs. A roster already carrying heavy single-target damage gains more from Enel than one that is short on raw DPS, because everything it does makes other units’ attacks land on stationary targets for longer.
