Steal An Egg: How the Wi-Fi Disconnect Glitch Steals Locked-Zone Eggs

The exact timing behind the offline-reconnect trick that pulls Volcano and Abyss Ocean eggs at low speed.

The exact timing behind the offline-reconnect trick that pulls Volcano and Abyss Ocean eggs at low speed.

Steal An Egg gates its best eggs behind speed. Each zone shows a recommended number, and if you walk in far below it, the guardian catches you before the egg ever reaches your pen. The Wi-Fi disconnect glitch sidesteps that entirely by desyncing your client at the moment you pick up the egg, so the server accepts the delivery when you reconnect.

Quick answer: Stand next to the egg in a locked zone, turn your device’s Wi-Fi off, grab the egg, sprint back to the safe zone, spam-click a different egg in your inventory, then turn Wi-Fi back on. The stolen egg stays in your possession once the client resyncs.

What the glitch bypasses: Steal An Egg zone speed requirements

Every zone in the run has a posted speed figure. It is a recommendation rather than a hard lock, but in practice the guardian in each area moves fast enough that anything well under the number ends in a failed steal. The glitch removes that pressure because the guardian never registers the grab while you are offline.

Set up before you try the Wi-Fi glitch

Play in windowed mode, not full screen. The whole method depends on reaching your system’s network toggle in under a second, and dropping out of full screen every time you want to click it costs more time than the glitch allows. Park the window so your Wi-Fi icon or network menu stays visible next to the game.

It also helps to have a second egg already sitting in your inventory. That spare is what you spam during the reconnect, and without one the sequence has nothing to trigger against.

Note: the trick only works if you rejoin the same session. Leave the connection off for too long and the client drops you from the server entirely, which loses the egg.

How to do the Steal An Egg Wi-Fi disconnect glitch

Run to the zone holding the egg you want and stop right beside its nest. Do not interact yet. You want to be close enough that a single click grabs it the instant you are offline.
Turn off your device’s Wi-Fi. The game will keep rendering for a few seconds even though nothing you do is reaching the server anymore, and that window is what you are working inside.

Cutting the connection mid-run is the moment the whole method hinges on.
Grab the egg with the steal prompt. Because the client is desynced, the zone guardian does not start its chase the way it normally would.

Sprint straight back toward the safe zone without stopping. Speed matters here, since you are racing your own reconnect window rather than the guardian.

As you approach the safe zone, spam-click the other egg in your inventory. Rapid repeated clicks are what push the client into the teleport state that carries the stolen egg through.
Turn Wi-Fi back on while still spamming. Keep clicking through the reconnect rather than stopping the moment the connection returns.
Once the game resyncs, drop the stolen egg into a pen and start its hatch timer.

How to tell the steal actually registered

The confirmation is simple. After the connection returns, the egg should still be on your character or already in your pen, and the pen should show a hatch timer counting down. If the egg snapped back to its nest in the locked zone, the reconnect landed outside the window and the steal did not register.

Hatching works normally from there. Successful runs with this method have pulled a Jungle egg and a Beluga egg out of Abyss Ocean, which hatched into a Silver Spider and a Swordfish respectively.

Why the glitch fails

Almost every failed attempt comes down to timing rather than technique. The three things that break it:

  • Reconnecting too early, before you reach the safe zone, which lets the server see you carrying the egg out in the open.
  • Reconnecting too late, so the session drops and the run is wiped.
  • Not spamming the inventory egg during the reconnect, which is the part that stops the guardian chase from resuming.

Expect to miss it on the first few tries. Volcano and Abyss Ocean are the least forgiving because the run back is longer, so it is worth practising on a nearer zone like Jungle before spending attempts on the high-tier eggs.

Backup methods when the reconnect timing does not land

If you cannot get the network toggle fast enough, there are movement tricks that get eggs home without touching your connection. Dropping the egg the moment the boss closes in resets its attack, letting you pick the egg back up and continue. Weaving left and right in a zigzag while carrying an egg also keeps chasing enemies from landing hits on the straight sections.

Dropping a stolen egg tight against a wall is another option, since the egg stays where you left it instead of resetting to its spawn nest, so you can respawn and collect it in stages. These are slower than the disconnect method, but they do not risk losing the session.

Like any timing exploit, this one lives on borrowed time. It works because the client and server briefly disagree about where you are and what you are holding, and that gap is exactly the kind of thing a patch closes. If you want a Volcano or Abyss Ocean pet well before your speed can carry you there, it is worth running now rather than later.
