The exact route to the Chapter 7 strongbox, the armor’s full stats, and what its Extreme Enemy Awareness costs you.

The Amber Breastplate is the first big defensive jump of the back half of Beast of Reincarnation, and it shows up almost immediately after Chapter 7 begins. It sits in an unlocked strongbox on a metal platform in the Giant Tree Zone, a few steps from a campsite you have to pass through anyway. Miss it and you spend the next stretch of the game in armor that’s roughly ten points of defense behind.

Quick answer: Fast travel to the Giant Tree: Root Depths campsite in the Giant Tree Zone (Drowned Region), turn away from your objective marker, run up the grassy slope onto the metal platform with the shipping containers, and open the gold strongbox beside them.

Route to the Amber Breastplate strongbox in the Giant Tree Zone

Chapter 7 opens in the Ooi Colony with the objective “Head to the Giant Tree,” sending Emma and Koo after the two Nushi that just tore through the settlement. The armor sits directly on that path, so you do not need to detour far.

Follow the objective out of the Ooi Colony until you reach the elevator platform that drops you toward the container yard. At the bottom, look for the orange butterflies drifting above a stack of containers.
Climb those containers and jump or grapple onto one of the yellow cable cars. Ride it north and stay on until it reaches the end of its run and turns around.
Drop onto the platform below you as the car swings back. The Giant Tree: Root Depths campsite is just to the left, so claim it and rest before you do anything else. Opening your map here confirms you are in the right place, with the fast travel point sitting in the Giant Tree Zone of the Drowned Region.

If you already rested and want to approach it fresh, stand at the campfire and turn around, away from the objective marker. Run up the short grassy slope and hop onto the raised metal platform holding the shipping containers.
The gold strongbox sits right next to the containers. It is unlocked, so there is no directional code puzzle here. Open it to receive the Amber Breastplate.

How to confirm you actually picked it up

The pickup popup names the armor and lists 48 Defense along with its description: “A breastplate made from hard amber. More flexible than metal without sacrificing defense.” Once it’s in your inventory, the equipment menu reads 49 Defense, which is the number that matters when you equip it.

Two things commonly go wrong. Riding the cable car past its turnaround point carries you away from the platform entirely, so watch for the moment it reverses. And if you sprint straight toward the objective marker after resting at Root Depths, the platform is behind you and easy to never look at. The strongbox does not lock or disappear, so you can fast travel back at any point later in the chapter.

Two numbers do the heavy lifting. Six Spirit Stone slots is the maximum any armor in the game offers, and 90 Acid Resistance is the highest acid value on any piece, including the endgame God Tree Guard. At the point you find it, nothing else in your inventory comes close on raw defense.

The Extreme Enemy Awareness trade-off

Enemy Awareness controls how quickly nearby enemies notice you, and Extreme is the worst rating in the game. Wearing the Amber Breastplate effectively takes stealth openings off the table. If you were leaning on Dance Attire to slip past Golems and malefacts, that approach stops working the moment you swap.

Dance Attire39 / 6Flame 60, Lightning 60Low
Amber Breastplate48–49 / 6Acid 90Extreme
Silver Cuirass52 / 5Poison 60, Lightning 60Medium

Because both Dance Attire and the Amber Breastplate carry six slots, moving your Spirit Stones between them costs you nothing in build flexibility. The practical answer is to keep both and switch based on the fight. Dance Attire stays useful for exploration and any encounter where being spotted first is the real danger.

When the Amber Breastplate is worth wearing

Acid is one of the nastier status effects in Beast of Reincarnation, and Chapter 7 leans into it. Corvus, the crow-like Nushi you fight twice in the Giant Tree Zone, leaves corrosive pools behind its projectile attacks, and clearing the fight rewards you with the Acid Burst Nobudou skill. Ninety Acid Resistance cuts both the damage and the buildup, which means fewer emergency heals mid-arena.

Fill all six slots with defensive or recovery Spirit Stones and it becomes a boss-fight set piece rather than a general-purpose outfit. Stealth is already irrelevant inside an arena, so the Extreme awareness penalty costs you nothing there.

Note: the Silver Cuirass turns up later in the same region, on a platform of trees and branches north of the Giant Tree: Feeding Ground camp on the western side of the map. It edges out the Amber Breastplate on defense with a far gentler awareness rating, but it drops to five slots and loses the acid protection entirely. Keep the breastplate in your inventory even after you find it.
