Leveling in Grand Blue is driven almost entirely by quests, not by grinding random mobs. Each of the game’s early islands has one repeatable quest that pays far better than anything else available at that point, and the fastest path to level 100 is simply moving to the right island at the right level and looping that quest until the next one opens up.
Quick answer: Farm the Marine Captain repeatable quest in Anchor Town from level 1 to 30, Johnny’s Clown Officer quest and the Buggy the Clown repeatable in Clown Town from 30 to 70, then Gus’s repeatable quest in Maple Village from 70 to 100.
Grand Blue leveling route: islands and repeatable quests by level
| Levels | Island | What to farm |
|---|---|---|
| 1–30 | Anchor Town | Tutorial and main quests, then the repeatable Marine Captain quest at the marine base |
| 30–70 | Clown Town | Johnny’s repeatable Clown Officer quest, plus the Buggy the Clown repeatable |
| 70–100 | Maple Village | Main storyline, then Gus’s repeatable quest |
Sail on as soon as the band ends. Staying on an old island past its level range is the single biggest reason people stall short of 100, because the repeatables there stop scaling with the experience you need.

Wizard’s Apprentice: The one detour worth taking
Almighty Calvin’s Wizard’s Apprentice quest is a one-time job, and it is the exception to the “ignore everything else” rule because it pays out a cursed fruit. Pick it up while you are still working through Anchor Town rather than backtracking later.

Levels 30 to 70 in Clown Town
Clown Town is the longest stretch of the run, and it has two repeatables that stack nicely because they share the same enemy area. Sail over as soon as you hit 30.
Levels 70 to 100 in Maple Village
Note: your character will be noticeably weaker than the enemies here if you rushed the earlier bands without upgrading gear. Buying a better weapon from a town shop before starting the Maple Village loop keeps kill times low.
Stat points, energy, and codes that speed up the grind
Experience per hour is mostly a function of how fast you kill, so the setup matters more than the route once you are past level 30.
- Stat points: put them into the stat that scales the combat style you actually use, rather than spreading them evenly. A focused build clears repeatable quest targets in fewer hits.
- Energy: keep an eye on the meter. Running out mid-fight cuts off your movement and skills at the worst moment, which is what turns a clean loop into a death and a respawn walk.
- Codes: redeem the active codes before you start the run. They can hand out fruit chests, which saves you from detouring to farm Celestial Coins for the shop.
World bosses: Join only the nearby ones
World bosses such as Axe-Hand Logan spawn on a schedule and drop chest rewards, fruit chests, and Celestial Coins. Join one if it spawns near the island you are already farming, since the fight is short and the rewards are worth the interruption.
What you should not do is sail across the map for every spawn. The travel time costs more experience than the boss returns, and the leveling route is the thing that gets you to 100.
How to confirm the repeatable quest loop is working
After a turn-in, the quest giver’s dialogue should offer the same quest again immediately and the quest panel should reset to zero progress. You will also see the reward line appear on screen with the gold amount and any reputation gained, followed by a level-up animation when the bar fills. Rewards can then be claimed from the Logbook.
If a repeatable will not re-accept, the usual causes are a main quest gating it that you have not completed yet, or an objective still counted as active in your tracker. For Anchor Town specifically, the Marine Captain loop is unreachable until the 25 Gold gate has been paid.
Run cleanly, the three-island route is a straight line with no wasted travel. Anchor Town gets you moving, Clown Town does the heavy lifting through the forties and fifties, and Maple Village closes out the last stretch to 100 while the main story keeps handing you gear and skills along the way.
