Grand Blue: How to Get All Treasure Maps (Easy to Extreme)

Which islands and bosses drop each treasure scroll rarity, and what an Expert hunt actually pays out.

Which islands and bosses drop each treasure scroll rarity, and what an Expert hunt actually pays out.

Treasure scrolls are the closest thing Grand Blue has to a self-contained side activity. You get a map, follow a chain of clues across an island, dig where it tells you to, and walk away with gems, gold bars, a weapon, and stat points. There are five rarities, and each one comes from a specific place in the world rather than a shop.

Quick answer: Farm regular NPCs on the island that matches the tier you want — Anchor Town for Easy, Clown Town for Medium, Maple Village for Hard — and run raid bosses such as the Black Noir Captain in the Maple Village raid for Expert and Extreme scrolls.

Where each treasure scroll rarity drops

The drop table follows island progression almost exactly. The further out you sail, the higher the tier of scroll that the local mobs can hand you. The top two rarities skip open-world enemies entirely and sit behind raid bosses.

Because the first three tiers come off standard island mobs, the fastest route is simply to pick the island that matches the tier and keep clearing enemies there. Nothing about a higher-level island improves your odds of a lower-tier scroll, so there is no reason to farm Maple Village if you want Easy maps.

Farming Expert and Extreme scrolls from raid bosses

Expert scrolls come out of the Maple Village raid, where the Black Noir Captain is the boss you need to kill. Extreme scrolls come from raid bosses as well, which makes raids the only reliable route to the top of the ladder. Neither tier drops from wandering enemies, so grinding town NPCs longer will not produce them.

Bring a weapon and a fruit you can actually use before queuing. Raid trash such as the Black Noir Pirates hits back, and you will be fighting through them before the captain is even on screen.

Other ways treasure maps show up

Enemy drops are not the only supply line. Maps also come out of quest chains, milestones and general exploration, which means a slow, thorough pass through a new island is usually worth more than sprinting to the next quest marker.

  • NPC quests — some village and port NPCs pay out a treasure map as a quest reward. Talk to anyone with a dialogue marker, not just the NPC the main quest arrow points at.
  • Achievement milestones — the Achievement menu occasionally hands over a map when you complete an entry.
  • Exploration — hidden chests and treasure spots dotted around the islands can contain maps.
  • World events — some timed events pay maps as a bonus drop.

Delivery and fetch objectives are a common shape for these side quests. Watch the objective text at the top of the screen and the marker on your minimap, since both update as you carry an item to its destination.

Maps are not infinitely farmable, and they appear to have a use window rather than sitting in your bag forever. Check the item description and run a map instead of hoarding it.

How to complete a treasure hunt

Higher rarities are longer, not harder to read. An Expert hunt in Maple Village runs through roughly eight clues, mixing dig sites, NPC conversations and at least one fight before it closes out. The sequence below is the shape every hunt follows.

Open your inventory and use the Treasure Map item. The map shows an island area with a marker or a written clue rather than a direct GPS line, so read the text before you move.

Match the clue to a landmark you can actually see. Clues point at things like hay bales, a specific tree, a cliff face, a mansion balcony or the docks. Not every map keeps you on your current island, so check whether you need a ship before you start running.
Stand on the dig spot and press E to dig. The patch of ground usually looks different from the terrain around it. If the prompt does not appear, you are either slightly off the mark or there are enemies still alive nearby.
Talk to any NPC the chain names. Expert hunts route you through characters like Lady Maia at the mansion and the shipwright down at the docks, and each conversation unlocks the next clue.
Clear the fights the map throws at you. Some waypoints spawn wildlife such as wolves, and late in an Expert chain a treasure guardian spawns and shouts before attacking. The hunt does not progress until it is dead.
Dig the final site, then return to the NPC who set you off — Lady Maia at the mansion, in the Maple Village Expert chain — to close the hunt and collect the payout.

Expert treasure hunt rewards

Rewards land as a single haul when you hand the hunt in. A completed Expert run in Maple Village produced the following, alongside a bonus line reading “Maia’s cleansing settled the gold +25% on this haul.”

RewardAmount
Celestial Coins126
Gold Bar9
Emerald3
Ruby3
Sapphire4
Topaz4
Diamond2
Whetstone2
Cutlass1
Stat points5

Lower tiers pay less, but the categories stay consistent across hunts. Gold, Celestial Coins, Fruit Chests and Skill Scrolls all turn up in treasure hunt payouts, which is why maps are treated as a free alternative to buying chests outright.

How to tell the hunt completed, and why it sometimes stalls

A finished hunt is unambiguous. Handing the map back to the NPC who issued it fires a reward summary listing every item and coin amount, plus a “Gained 5 stat points!” style line for the stat award. If you do not see that summary, the hunt is still open.

Note: the two things that most often stop progress are an unfinished fight and an unvisited NPC. Dig spots can stay locked until nearby enemies are cleared, and the chain will not advance past a clue that requires dialogue you have skipped. Check your objective marker before assuming the map is bugged.

Grand Blue is still in Early Access on Roblox, so drop rates and reward tables can shift with a patch. The tier-to-island mapping has been stable, though, and it is the part worth memorising — everything else is just following clues on foot.
