The Blood of Dawnwalker: Why You Should Invite Every Vrakhir

Taking in each defeated Vrakhir carries no downside and stacks your side for the final fight against Brencis.

Taking in each defeated Vrakhir carries no downside and stacks your side for the final fight against Brencis.

Every Vrakhir you beat in The Blood of Dawnwalker gives you a choice once the fight is over. You can leave them behind, or you can invite them in. The safe call is to invite each one. A defeated Vrakhir can no longer hurt you, and taking them in only adds to Coen’s strength. What follows contains spoilers about the game’s story and its endings.

Quick answer: Yes. Invite every Vrakhir you defeat. They stop being a threat the moment they lose, and each one you take in fights on Coen’s side during the final battle against Brencis.

Inviting a defeated Vrakhir carries no risk

A Vrakhir who loses to Coen is finished as a danger. The game makes this clear right after each fight, so there is no lingering threat to weigh against taking them in. If Coen leaves them behind, their soul stays trapped in Anachora forever. Inviting them in spares them that fate.

Because the downside simply is not there, the decision comes down to what you gain. Story-wise, you lose nothing by accepting each Vrakhir. That makes the choice much simpler than most decisions in the game.

What each invited Vrakhir adds during play

Once a Vrakhir is inside Coen, their voice joins him in his head. They speak up as you make choices, and they can warn Coen when he is walking into a dangerous encounter. They also react to places and people tied to their own past.

For example, invite Ambrus and later visit his lover’s location, and he delivers a special line of dialogue. Other invited Vrakhiri behave the same way when Coen reaches something connected to their history.

The final fight against Brencis is the real reason

The biggest payoff comes at the end. The final boss fight against Brencis takes place in Anachora, and your earlier choices decide who stands where. Every Vrakhir Coen invited fights alongside him. Every Vrakhir he refused sides with Brencis instead.

That split alone makes the case for inviting all of them. Each one you take in is one fewer enemy on Brencis’s side and one more ally on yours when the fight matters most.

The one case where you might refuse

Refusing a Vrakhir is a role-playing choice, not a smart tactical one. The only reason to leave one behind is if you feel they deserve to stay trapped in Anachora. Bakir is the clearest example. He is arguably the most useful Vrakhir to have on your side, yet some players still turn him down because of who he is, and he seems to expect it himself.

Note: If you are optimizing for the strongest ending, invite every Vrakhir, Bakir included. Leaving him behind costs you a powerful ally and hands Brencis one more fighter. Refuse only if the story reason means more to you than the advantage.
