The Summer Siege roster in Anime Expeditions adds nine event units, and only a handful of them earn a permanent slot. The strongest workable summer lineup pairs one wave clearer, one boss killer, one control unit, and one buffer, with the whole setup capable of pushing past a million damage per second on a single placement group when the buffs line up.
Quick answer: Run Lightning God (Overcharged) for wave clear, Sovereign (Djinn) as your boss killer with Warrior Pole and Shinigami Sword, Sand (Alligator) for slow and poison amplification, and Kitsune to buff your strongest unit. Add a farm unit like Ramen Guy when the mode allows economy.
The four summer team slots and what each one covers
Every slot on this team exists to solve one problem. Skip any of them and you will stall on either shielded waves or single high-health bosses.
| Unit | Job on the team |
|---|---|
| Lightning God (Overcharged) | Wave clear and crowd control. Stuns build Voltage, and each point raises his Electricity damage by 5% up to 60 stacks. |
| Sovereign (Djinn) | Boss damage. Swaps to Nine-Tailed Fox Djinn when a boss enters range for 50% more damage, plus Freeze and a permanent 15% slow. |
| Sand (Alligator) | Control and support. Desert Storm grows over time, applies Sandstorm, and boosts Poison damage inside its area. |
| Kitsune | Buffer. Repeatedly lowers SPA and raises attack speed on your strongest unit, then grants 35% more damage to everything in range on ultimate. |
Sovereign is the reason this composition hits its damage ceiling. His Lightning Djinn passive adds five chains at 20% damage each to every regular attack, and against a single target all five land on that same enemy. Djinn’s Judgment then fires a 75% strike plus three more chains every seven seconds.

Add to Google Preferences →Getting Sand (Alligator) from Summer Capsules
Sand (Alligator) is the one summer unit that is not handed out through normal progression. He comes from Summer Capsules, which cost Sand Dollars, and Sand Dollars come from event grinding. Expect to pull in bulk rather than in small batches.

Note: pulling duplicates is useful here. Extra copies feed ascension later, and Sand (Alligator) wants Ascension 1 before he is worth a permanent slot.
Evolution requirements for Sand (Alligator)
The base Sand unit does not carry a team. The evolution is mandatory, and the materials are split between the Summer Shop and normal crafting.
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Desert Fruit | 1 |
| Sprite (Green) | 15 |
| Sprite (Purple) | 10 |
| Gold | 75,000 |
The Desert Fruit is a Summer Shop purchase paid for in Sand Dollars, so budget for it before you dump everything into capsules. Sprites come from summoning and crafting, and Banner Blitz quests are the fastest way to stock up on both colors at once.
Transfer your best stat roll onto the unit before evolving. Doing it in that order means you are not rerolling stats on a finished unit and burning locks you will want later.

Best equipment and traits for the summer lineup
Gear decides more of your damage than the unit list does. Sand (Alligator) is a Terra Physical unit, so every slot on him should push physical damage.
| Unit | Equipment | Trait |
|---|---|---|
| Sand (Alligator) | Poison Hook, Shinigami Sword, Three Swords From Hell | Primordial |
| Sovereign (Djinn) | Warrior Pole, Shinigami Sword | Unbound |
| Lightning God (Overcharged) | Magic-scaling gear | Unbound or Draconic |
The Poison Hook pairs directly with Desert Storm, since the storm area amplifies Poison damage. Reroll its stats before you commit it, and treat anything below a strong roll as fodder for a support slot rather than your main damage dealer.

One caveat on the Shinigami Sword. It scales off how many enemies are currently in range, so it is excellent on dense Infinite waves and noticeably weaker in boss-only brackets where only one target is on screen.
How Sand (Alligator) actually performs
Sand is not a raw damage pick. His value is the field he creates. Desert Storm expands as the wave runs, applying the Sandstorm slow to everything caught inside while raising Poison damage in that area.
Ground Eruption is the burst half of his kit. It lands a 65% slow, deals large area damage, and stuns for five seconds, which is enough to hold a pack in place while Sovereign works through it.

That combination is why he sits a tier below the top DPS units on their own but slots straight into this team. He extends the window every other unit gets to deal damage.
Confirming the team is working
The lobby testing zone gives you a clean damage readout on a single unit, which is the fastest way to check whether a gear or trait swap helped. Use it before committing rerolls.
For a real check, run Sovereign’s Portal (Secret). It throws shielded enemies at you, which exposes any team that is relying on a single damage type. If your damage collapses the moment shields appear, the fix is adding a unit that strips or bypasses them rather than upgrading what you already have.
Against the Fishmen Boss with Kitsune’s buff active, a properly geared Sovereign (Djinn) crosses 1,000,000 damage per second. If your number sits well below that with the same setup, the usual causes are a missing evolution, a weak equipment roll, or Kitsune buffing the wrong unit because a higher-damage placement is sitting outside her range.
The summer team holds up because it is built around roles rather than rarity. If you only have time to invest in one unit, put it into Sovereign (Djinn), since his boss damage carries the setup with or without the rest of the event roster fully evolved.
