Hitting 10,000 points in one match of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre as a victim is a stacking problem, not a speed problem. Every unlocked door, dismantled trap, and immobilized Grandpa adds to the tally, and the score screen only pays out for what you finished before the match ended. Three attempts as Virginia across The Mill, Slaughterhouse, and Nancy’s House topped out at 8,760 points, which tells you exactly how tight the margin is.
Quick answer: Unlock every basement door you pass, escape the basement, dismantle each trap and noisemaker you find, stab Grandpa every time you are carrying bone scrap, and stay in the match working objectives instead of leaving through the first available exit — escaping early locks your score in at whatever you have banked.
What the 10k Challenge is in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
The goal is a single-match victim score of 10,000 points or higher. It is a self-imposed target rather than an in-game objective, so nothing in the match tells you how close you are until the results screen appears. Virginia suits the attempt because her powder-based ability produces a blinding cloud that buys escape windows from family members, which keeps you alive long enough to keep earning.
Every run starts the same way. You wake up restrained in a basement cell — East Cell, North Cell, or whichever your spawn hands you — with a warning that your condition is deteriorating and you must escape. Breaking free is step zero, not a scoring event.

Points come from repeatable actions, and each one fires a confirmation banner so you can count as you go. Doors are the backbone of the run because there are so many of them, especially underground.
| Action | Confirmation you should see |
|---|---|
| Unlock a door or gate with an unlock tool | DOOR UNLOCKED |
| Leave the basement | VIRGINIA ESCAPED FROM BASEMENT |
| Stab Grandpa with bone scrap | GRANDPA IMMOBILIZED |
| Dismantle a trap | TRAP DISMANTLED |
| Disarm a bone noisemaker | NOISEMAKER DISARMED |
| Win a grapple against a family member | CLOSE ENCOUNTER WON |
| Cut power at a generator or fusebox | GENERATOR TURNED OFF / FUSEBOX TURNED OFF |
| Blind a family member with Virginia’s ability | HITCHHIKER BLINDED (or the relevant name) |
| Survive time thresholds | SURVIVED FOR 1 MINUTE, SURVIVED FOR 5 MINUTES |
Doors are the reason the basement is worth farming rather than fleeing. A single pass through the tunnels on Nancy’s House or the Slaughterhouse can hand you Tool Storage, North Storage Room, Basement Storage, and Garden Storage before you ever see daylight. Pick the lock, take the banner, move on.

Unlock tools break, so treat them as ammunition. Swap for a fresh one whenever a pickup is on your route, and grab bone scrap and powder in the same sweep so a Grandpa stab or an ability charge is always available when the opportunity shows up.

Grandpa stabs and traps are the highest-value detours
Stabbing Grandpa is worth going out of your way for, and it can be repeated. In the Nancy’s House run, Grandpa was stabbed on the front porch, and then stabbed a second time after another bone scrap pickup. Each stab immobilizes him and pauses the level increases that make hiding impossible later in the match.
Approach him quietly. The game reminds you to keep still to avoid detection, and noise from other victims will wake him and push his level up regardless of what you are doing. When the game announces that Grandpa is at maximum, the warning is literal — there is nowhere to hide, and the family will find you wherever you are working.
Traps and noisemakers are the safer income. They sit on doors, gates, and power boxes, they take seconds to clear, and they remove the noise that would otherwise pull a family member onto you mid-lockpick. The catch is that a trap you did not spot fires instead — a Hands trap on a generator will shock you and leave you scrambling for an escape route.

Escaping early caps your score
This is the central tension of the challenge. Getting out alive is the win condition of a normal match, but it is the fastest way to end a 10k attempt short. The Slaughterhouse run cleared the basement, stabbed Grandpa, blinded Hitchhiker with a smoke bomb, and left through the Valve Exit — a clean escape that finished on 7,370 points, the lowest of the three attempts.
The two runs that ended in death scored higher, because both kept working the map until the family closed in. Wells are the tool that makes that possible. Dropping down a well breaks a chase outright, and it can be used more than once in a match, which is what turns a cornered situation into another few minutes of scoring.

Note: health is the hidden clock. Low health tips into a critical bleedout state, and once the warning appears you are on borrowed time regardless of how many doors are left. Pick up health items on your route rather than doubling back for them.
Three attempts and where each one ended
All three matches were played as Virginia during a Double XP event, and none of them reached the target. The pattern across them is consistent — the run that escaped scored lowest, and the runs that pushed deepest into the map scored highest before dying.
| Map | How it ended | Final score |
|---|---|---|
| The Mill | Cornered at the generator, executed by Johnny | 8,540 |
| Slaughterhouse | Escaped through the Valve Exit | 7,370 |
| Nancy’s House | Ran out of stamina, executed by Hands | 8,760 |
Why runs fall short of 10,000 points
- Escaping through an exit. The match ends the moment you clear the boundary, and nothing you had planned to do afterwards counts.
- Getting executed mid-objective. Being caught while turning off a generator or working a gate ends the run with that action unfinished and unpaid.
- Running out of stamina during a chase. Once you cannot outpace a pursuer and there is no well or vault nearby, the chase ends in an execution.
- Grandpa reaching maximum level. At that point hiding stops working, so the long, safe scoring loop the challenge depends on is no longer available.
- Being the last victim standing. When allies escape, disconnect, or are killed, the entire family converges on you and objective time disappears.
How to check your total
There is no live counter during the match. The SCORE screen appears after the match resolves — whether you escaped, were executed, or bled out — and that number is your result for the attempt. The banners that fire during play are your only running feedback, so treat each DOOR UNLOCKED, TRAP DISMANTLED, and GRANDPA IMMOBILIZED as a tick on the board and keep moving.
Realistically, the gap between a strong run and the target is a few hundred points of unfinished work. That final gate you were picking when Hands spotted you, or the generator you were two seconds from switching off, is usually the difference — which is why the challenge rewards clearing every cheap objective on your path rather than gambling on one big play at the end.
