Song of the Mountain Walkthrough in The Blood of Dawnwalker (Full Quest)

Reach the hidden Uriash village at night, survive the rock-throwing test, and learn where Brencis locked away Isbrand.

Reach the hidden Uriash village at night, survive the rock-throwing test, and learn where Brencis locked away Isbrand.

Song of the Mountain is the Lacra side quest that opens up the hidden Uriash village in the western mountains of The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it exists for one reason: finding out where Isbrand, Brencis’s sire, ended up. The climb itself is straightforward once you know what to look for. The part that trips people up is the standoff at the summit, where a handful of wrong dialogue picks turns an entire village of vendors into corpses.

Quick answer: Meet Lacra at Crown Rock at night, climb the mountain by following the windchimes, then answer the Uriash peacefully — calm Lacra down, refuse to fight, and do nothing while they pelt you with rocks. The Matriarch then leads you into the village and tells you Isbrand has been chained in a cave beneath it for two years.

Song of the Mountain requirements and rewards

The quest only appears after you finish A Friend Like This and speak with the uriash prisoner. Spare him and promise you will not kill the uriash in the village, and Song of the Mountain lands in your journal. Without that, the mountain area west of Rockfalls stays off limits — climbing it early throws up a warning and respawns Coen further down the slope.

The objective to meet Lacra near Crown Rock displays a timer icon, but letting in-game time pass does not appear to fail it. Since the whole quest runs at night, plan the trip around a night cycle rather than burning segments waiting around.

Hunt with Lacra at Crown Rock

Travel to Crown Rock after dark and talk to Lacra. She proposes draining a shepherd camped nearby before the climb. You can go along with it or talk her out of it — neither choice changes how the rest of the quest plays out.
If you take the offer, use Voracious Bite on the man by the bonfire and hold the prompt through the struggle. Lacra pushes back if you drain him dry and leave her nothing, which leads into a short exchange about Coen’s guilt. Finish that conversation to clear the objective.

Climb the mountain following the windchimes

Yellow windchimes hang along the entire route and act as the path markers. If you lose the trail, hit Focus Mode (L2/LT) and they light up. Anything that looks like a sheer wall is climbable with Planeshift, which locks onto the glowing spheres set into the rock face.

Walk past the sheep herd and follow the snowy trail east to the base of the mountain. Use Planeshift on the first vertical section to pull yourself up the edge.

A pack of mountain wolves attacks as you reach the top. Clear them and head for the next climbable wall to the northwest, where a windchime confirms you are still on the right line.

Keep climbing until a rockslide triggers. It is only a scripted screen shake, so nothing can hit you. Continue along the mountain edge until you reach a dead end, which starts a cutscene where Lacra blows the boulders apart with blood magic.
A second wolf pack waits on the far side, this time with a Pack Leader. Kill it, loot the remains for Wolf Pelt, Wolf Claws and Vials of Animal Blood, then push higher along the chimes.
The next ledge holds a Ravenous Bear. Bring it down and pick up Bear Fur, Bear Meat, Bear Claw and an Elixir of Battle before moving on. When you start hearing owls, you are close to the summit.

Tip: Save manually before you reach the top. The confrontation that follows is decided entirely by dialogue, and there is no way to walk it back once a fight starts.

Uriash dialogue choices for a peaceful outcome

Uriash guards surround Coen at the village edge and demand he drop his weapons. Lacra immediately turns hostile and starts pushing for blood, so your first job is talking her down. After that, the warriors begin throwing stones — that is the actual test, and the correct response is to stand there and take it.

Pick these options in order:

  • All right, fine.
  • Lacra, calm down.
  • Nobody needs to die.
  • Can we stop with the hostilities?
  • What do you mean? (may instead read “We’ve already proven it.”)
  • What more proof do you need?
  • [Do nothing]
  • [Do nothing]
  • It’s clearly a test. Go on.

You may get one more [Do nothing] prompt at the end. Ride it out. Retaliating, or letting Lacra escalate, flips the entire village hostile.

What you lose if the Uriash turn hostile

Fighting still lets you finish the quest, but you have to kill every uriash in the village first. That wipes out several vendors, including the Matriarch, who sells nearly every Witchcraft skill manual in the game. It also locks you out of A Mother’s Plea. The settlement’s fast travel shrine is worth keeping intact too.

Follow the Elder and learn where Isbrand is

Once you survive the stoning and name it for what it is, the Matriarch calls her warriors off and recognizes Coen as a friend of Ocha. She escorts you through the snowy village to her hut, and Lacra tags along until the conversation ends.

Walk with her to the far end of the settlement and work through the questions about Isbrand. She explains that Brencis defeated his own sire two years ago and has kept him chained in a cave directly beneath the village ever since. That is the payoff — the knowledge you need before you can go after the knyaz. Lacra then peels off to wait by the cliffside while you wrap up.

How to confirm the quest completed

You will see “QUEST ENDED: Song of the Mountain” on screen along with the XP payout, immediately followed by “NEW QUEST: Hive and Seek” and a Talk to Lacra objective. If the village is still standing and the shrine is usable, the peaceful route held.

From there the Lacra chain continues into Hive and Seek, and the Uriash village becomes a genuinely useful stop — a fast travel point, a Witchcraft vendor, and the starting thread for helping the Matriarch get her daughter back.
