The Blood of Dawnwalker: Most Precious Thing and Safe Passage to the Library

Most Precious Thing is the short side quest that unblocks Anca’s route to the library inside St. Tyna’s Convent. It hangs off the larger Echoes of Silenced Bells quest, and it exists because a squad of Brencis’s soldiers have barricaded themselves in the infirmary and refuse to open the door until you bring them a relic.

Quick answer: Take the Monastery Keys from the small shed beside the chapel, unlock the sacristy in front of it, loot The Relic of St. Tyna from the corpse inside, then return to the infirmary window. Handing the relic over or refusing it both open a safe passage to the library.

The quest only appears after Anca leads you into the refectory and you get the objective to secure a safe passage to the library. From the Prioress’s balcony you can mark the infirmary, bell tower and chapel as points of interest, then drop down to the south to reach the courtyard.

The courtyard is full of undead nuns. They do not aggro instantly, but they will if you walk straight through them, so crouch or move with Haste while none of them are looking at you.

Every door on the infirmary is locked and the Monastery Keys will not open them. Go around to the back of the building and interact with the window. Brencis’s Officer explains that his men were sent to recover St. Tyna’s necklace and cannot return empty-handed, and offers access to the upper corridor that connects the infirmary to the library in exchange. Accepting starts Most Precious Thing.

How to find the Relic of St. Tyna

Head to the chapel in the northern part of the convent if you want the intended lead. Inside, pick up the Prayerbook from the bench in the right corner and the Rosary from the floor, both of which Focus Mode highlights in yellow.

Compel the corpse near the tomb. The nun explains that the necklace was never left on the altar and was instead handed to another sister for safekeeping in the sacristy. This costs one time segment, and you can skip the whole chapel visit because the relic is in the same place either way.

Cross the convent to the small wooden shed set against the wall next to the chapel. The key ring hangs on the wall directly in front of the door.

Take the Monastery Keys. These open most of the locked side doors around the convent, including the sacristy, and picking them up also updates Echoes of Silenced Bells.

Unlock the sacristy, the building directly in front of the shed. A dead sister lies inside. Inspect her body to loot The Relic of St. Tyna, an epic amulet, along with a Wooden Cross.

The amulet raises maximum human health, boosts Witchcraft ability damage, lowers the health cost of Witchcraft abilities, and improves activation charge restoration from actions.

Tip: before you walk back to the infirmary, stop at the house on the western edge of the convent and read Campana Loquitur, Vel Introductio Pro Novitiis. It teaches Coen the bell signals, which matters for the alternative route below.

Give the relic to the soldiers or keep it

Return to the infirmary window with the amulet in your inventory and the officer gives you two options. Neither one blocks the library, so the decision is really about whether you want the amulet and the fight.

If you simply walk away without resolving it, the soldiers turn up again later in Echoes of Silenced Bells to ask about the relic, and you face the same give-or-fight decision then.

How to confirm the quest is complete

Once the exchange resolves, a QUEST ENDED banner for Most Precious Thing appears on screen and the entry moves to your completed list. Open the journal and check that the objectives for the sacristy search and the return to the soldiers are struck through, and that the 150 XP has been paid out.

The Echoes of Silenced Bells objective to secure a safe passage for Anca also clears at this point. Going back to Anca and telling her to move costs an extra time segment on top of the three the passage objective itself consumes.

What locks you out of Most Precious Thing

There is one reliable way to lose the quest, and it involves the bell tower attached to the chapel. Ringing the infirmary signal sends the nuns swarming into the building, where they tear the soldiers apart. Do that before you speak to Brencis’s Officer through the window and the quest never becomes available. It also raises Coen’s infamy.

If you have already used the infirmary signal, ring again for the chapel or dormitory to pull the nuns back out before you try to enter. Saving before you touch the bell rope is worth the few seconds, since the four-toll option is the only genuinely irreversible move in the sequence.

You do not need the soldiers at all if you would rather not deal with them. The chapel signal empties the courtyard on its own and lets Anca walk to the library, which makes Most Precious Thing purely optional. The relic is still worth the detour, though, and refusing to hand it over is the cheapest way to end up with an epic amulet before you head down into the catacombs.
