Fisch: How to Get the Chrysalis Rod From the Limited Time Wish

Every requirement, catch, and mutation you need to finish Hex's three quests and claim the Stage 8 rod.

Every requirement, catch, and mutation you need to finish Hex’s three quests and claim the Stage 8 rod.

The Chrysalis was pulled out of Fisch back in version 1.49.0, which made it one of those rods you could only look at in someone else’s inventory. The Limited Time Wish brings it back, but not for free — picking it from the wish menu just reopens Hex’s questline, and you still have to catch everything yourself.

Quick answer: Talk to the Limited Time Wish NPC, Hex, choose Chrysalis in the Wish of the Sky menu, then deliver an Aurora Globe Jellyfish, a Hexed Magician Narwhal, and a Hexed Moon Idol. The rod is granted on the third turn-in.

Requirements before you spend the wish

The wish itself is the part you cannot walk back. The confirmation screen spells it out — “YOU ONLY GET 1 WISH AND THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE.” Picking Chrysalis locks out Eardrum, Noctone, Cinderstring, and every other rod in that menu, so decide before you press confirm.

Level 1000 is the hard gate. The first two deliveries can be done earlier, but the third and final quest will not complete below level 1000, and there is no way around that. You also need a rod that can survive the Desolate Brine Pool, which means an Invincible enchant on something like the Aurora Rod or a Stellarwave Melody.

All three quest items can be traded for and appraised, so nothing forces you to catch them personally if you have a friend sitting on spares.

Starting the quest at the Limited Time Wish NPC

Walk up to Hex at the Limited Time Wish spot until the Talk prompt appears above the NPC. This is the only place the wish can be redeemed.

Open the Wish of the Sky menu and scroll to Chrysalis. Each entry shows its full stat sheet, so you can compare Lure Speed, Luck, Control, Resilience, and Max Kg before committing.
Confirm the Quest Wish. The first objective appears immediately — bring an Aurora “Globe Jellyfish” to Hex — and the quest is permanent from that point on.

Quest 1: Catching an Aurora Globe Jellyfish

The Globe Jellyfish lives in the Brine Pools, and the Desolate Brine Pool is where most players go for it. The problem is that weaker rods simply refuse to cast there — both the base Aurora Rod and an unenchanted Stellarwave Melody will tell you the rod is not strong enough.

Enchant your rod with an Invincible Relic at the Keepers Altar. That removes the weight ceiling that blocks fishing in the brine, and it is the standard fix for both the Aurora Rod and the Stellarwave Melody.

Fish the Desolate Brine Pool until a Globe Jellyfish bites, and make sure the one you keep carries the Aurora mutation. An Aurora Borealis event raises your odds considerably, and the Aurora Rod’s own passive helps for the same reason.
Return to Hex and hand it over. The turn-in pays out 5x Bloom Exalted Relics and immediately posts the second objective.

Quest 2: Getting a Hexed Magician Narwhal

Two things have to line up here. The Magician Narwhal is rare on its own and shows up during narwhal hunts, and on top of that it has to carry the Hexed mutation.

There are two reliable ways to get Hexed onto it. The No-Life Rod applies the mutation directly, and if you do not own one, you appraise the fish repeatedly until Hexed rolls. Appraising during a mutation surge tightens the odds a lot.

Handing it to Hex returns 10x Flora Exalted Relics plus a Flora Song of the Deep, then the final objective unlocks.

Quest 3: Hexed Moon Idol during a Blue Moon

The Moon Idol is a secret catch that only appears during a Blue Moon event, and specifically inside the cave on Snowcap Island. This is the step that requires level 1000.

Trigger a Blue Moon rather than waiting for one. A Clearcast Totem clears the weather first, and a Blue Moon Totem then forces the event.
Head into the Snowcap Island cave in the First Sea and fish for the Moon Idol. It is a heavy catch, so bring a rod with the weight ceiling to land it.

Appraise the Moon Idol until it comes back Hexed. A Mutation Totem raises the mutation rate by 15% while it is active, which is worth using before you burn through a stack of idols.
Deliver it to Hex. The rod is granted on this turn-in, and talking to Hex again afterwards produces a closing line about the sky owing nothing more this season.

Confirming the unlock and fixing a stalled quest

You know it worked when the Chrysalis appears in your Equipment Bag and the quest objective clears from Hex. Equipping it also swaps in the rod’s custom UI, so there is no ambiguity.

When a turn-in refuses to register, it is almost always one of a short list of reasons.

  • The fish is missing the required mutation — Aurora on the Globe Jellyfish, Hexed on the Narwhal and the Moon Idol.
  • You are below level 1000, which blocks the third quest only.
  • Your rod cannot fish the Desolate Brine Pool without an Invincible enchant.
  • No Blue Moon is active, so the Moon Idol will not spawn in the Snowcap Island cave.

Chrysalis stats, passives, and enchants

Chrysalis is a Stage 8 rod built around mutation value rather than raw handling. Its one real weakness is Control, which sits at 0 and leaves you with the default 30% reeling bar.

Lure Speed100%
Luck150%
Control0
Resilience100%
Max Kginfkg
Line Distance100m

Every catch rolls a 92% chance for Bloom (4x value) and an 8% chance for Flora (7x value), on top of a flat +10% Progress Speed. The signature effect is the eye — a 12% chance for a purple eye to appear over the bobber and hand you an extra fish from the current pool with a guaranteed Flora mutation, plus +20% Shiny and +20% Sparkling chances on it. That combination is why the rod is favoured for C$ grinding and for shiny-sparkling mutation quests.

For enchants, Immortal paired with Sea Prince is the usual grinding setup for Luck, Progress Speed, and fish weight, with Flashline as the fallback if you do not have an Exalted Relic. Herculean patches the Control problem when you need it, and Controlled works as the cheaper substitute.

Note: the rod’s model is a nod to Castorice’s weapon from Honkai: Star Rail, and it plays a slashing sound on a perfect catch. There is one skin, the XMAS Chrysalis, awarded to original owners.

The wish is the fast part, and the appraising is where the hours go. If you are on the fence between Chrysalis and the other rods in the Wish of the Sky list, sort out your level and your Invincible enchant first — the menu will still be there once you can actually finish what it hands you.
