Blox Fruits: How to Complete All Three Middle Town Island Secrets

Every trigger for Lookout Duty, the developer’s Early Access task, and the Hidden Treasure map hunt in one place.

Middle Town is the hub island of the First Sea, and since Update 30 it also hides three Island Secrets. They are not marked on the map, two of them depend on timing rather than skill, and one of them can quietly eat an hour if you save it for last. Here is exactly what triggers each one.

Quick answer: Clear Early Access (talk to the developer NPC upstairs, grab the key, unlock the rear office door), Hidden Treasure (punch trees for the map, collect the pieces, dig up the chest, kill the skeletons), and Lookout Duty (answer the Experienced Captain’s four-round flag count correctly). Each one pays 5 levels and raises your level cap by 5.

Middle Town Island Secrets: names, NPCs, and start conditions

All three secrets start within about thirty seconds of walking distance from the fountain. The Experienced Captain stands by the overturned cart behind the mansion, and the Secrets Master sits upstairs in the central building — the same building that houses the island teleporter you unlock by three-starring other islands.

Order matters only in one direction. Because the developer NPC shows up on a timer, check his room every time you pass it and do the other two objectives while you wait. Players who leave Early Access for last are the ones who end up stuck on two stars.

Early Access: the timed developer NPC and the office key

Stand behind the mansion, facing the Experienced Captain, and look up at the second-floor window directly above him. Break the glass with an attack, or use a movement ability such as Flash Step to get up there, and climb in.
Check the desk inside. Janus is only there some of the time — if the room is empty or he stays seated and won’t talk, leave and rejoin a different server, then come back and check again. Server hopping is far faster than waiting in place.

Talk to him and accept the task. He asks you to get into robotmega’s office next door and decompile the old sea animation system, listed in the dialogue as SeaAnimationSystem_2017.
Head into the yellow building beside the mansion through the front entrance and pick up the Rear Door Key inside. It sits in plain view near the desk and bookshelves at the front of the room.
Take the key around to the locked rear door of the same building and interact with it. The door opens into the office, and the interaction plays a short cutscene.

Use the computer inside to decompile the file, then go back through the upstairs window and speak to Janus again. You’ll know it worked when the game hands you the title Promoted to Tester and the star registers.

Hidden Treasure: find the map, then dig up the chest

Ask the Secrets Master about Middle Town’s secret. He points you toward buried treasure somewhere on the island, which flags the objective.
Equip a Fighting Style and start hitting the trees around town with basic M1 attacks. Eventually one tree starts shaking. Keep hitting that one and it drops the Treasure Map.

A Fighting Style must be equipped before the trees will register hits.

Note: you only need normal melee hits here. Skills that are still locked behind a mastery requirement won’t stop you from finishing the hunt.

Quick Tackle stays locked until Mastery Lv. 30, but the tree hunt only needs basic attacks.
Open the map and work through the Broken Map Pieces it points to. They cluster in a handful of spots — under the trees near the Experienced Captain, by the cart next to a house, at the water fountain, behind the wooden barrels along the mansion, and beside the Blox Fruit Dealer stall. Several sit close together, so sweep the immediate area before running across town.
The final clue sends you back to a tree near the Experienced Captain. Hit it with your Fighting Style until the Buried Treasure pushes up out of the ground, then interact with it to open it.
Don’t run off after looting. Opening the chest spawns a group of skeletons, and every one of them has to die before the objective clears. Once the area is empty, return to the Experienced Captain to close out the quest and take the star.

Lookout Duty: counting flags in the four-round memory game

Talk to the Experienced Captain and pick the lookout duty dialogue option. He often tells you to come back later, so keep checking in as you move around the island.
When he accepts, ships begin sailing past on the water. Watch the sail and flag colors and count how many of each color appear. There are four rounds in total.
Answer each round from the multiple-choice list. There’s no timer on the answer screen, so count carefully rather than rushing. If you keep miscounting, record your screen and replay the wave before picking.
Get all four rounds right and the Captain identifies the smuggler. A short scene plays where the Marines catch the culprit, and the star is awarded at the end of the dialogue.

Rewards, the level cap, and the 2-level payout bug

Island Secrets in Blox Fruits exist to push you past the normal level cap. Each completed secret grants 5 levels and lifts the cap by 5. With 40 secrets across the First Sea, that’s 200 Secret Levels available in total.

Middle Town is the one exception to the teleport reward. Clearing all three secrets on any other island unlocks it as a fast-travel destination, and the teleporter itself lives in Middle Town’s central building.

There is one payout bug worth knowing about. Occasionally a quest NPC hands over 2 levels instead of 5. Keep talking to that NPC until the rest arrive — if you leave the server first, those levels are gone for good.

Why a Middle Town secret won’t complete

  • The Captain keeps deferring you. Lookout Duty isn’t offered on every interaction. Hop servers or come back after finishing something else.
  • The desk upstairs is empty. Janus spawns on a timer. Nothing you do in the room forces him to appear — rejoin a fresh server and check again.
  • The rear door won’t open. You need the Rear Door Key from inside the yellow building, and you need Janus’s task active first.
  • The treasure tree does nothing. Every map piece has to be collected before the final tree will produce the chest, and a Fighting Style must be equipped.
  • The quest sits at 99 percent after looting. Skeletons are still alive somewhere nearby. Clear them, then talk to the Experienced Captain.
  • Someone beat you to it. A few Island Secrets only allow one player to complete them per spawn, so a busy server can lock you out until the next cycle.

One last thing worth doing while you’re standing in the central building. During the final 10 minutes of each hour, the Secrets Master will tell you which boss awakens at the top of the next hour — useful for the awakened-boss secrets on Frozen Village, Marine Fortress, and the rest of the First Sea, since those only spawn on that schedule.
