The Moose arrived in the Deep North with the Valheim 1.0 update, and it is one of the few creatures in that frozen biome you can tame and ride. It moves quickly through deep snow, fights hostile creatures alongside you, and works like a faster version of the Lox. It also attacks the moment you get close, so the whole task comes down to trapping one and keeping it calm long enough to eat.
Quick answer: Lure a Moose into a fenced enclosure in the Deep North, drop Lingonberries within its reach, then climb a platform and stay out of sight until the green hearts fill and the tame completes.

What you need before taming a Moose
Moose only live in the Deep North, so you have to bring the taming setup to the biome rather than dragging the animal home. Lingonberries are the single food they accept, and they grow on small bushes across the same region. Gather a healthy stack before you start, because feeding runs over a long stretch of time.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Biome | Deep North |
| Food | Lingonberries (only accepted food) |
| Enclosure | Sturdy fences, ideally stonewall, with one gap left open |
| Workstation | A workbench placed at a small base in the biome |
| Player position | A raised platform out of the Moose’s reach |
Note: because the Moose is large and aggressive when disturbed, use strong fencing. Weaker walls can be battered down while the animal is still agitated.

How to confirm the tame is working
Green hearts floating around the Moose mean it is eating and its taming is progressing. The creature has to stay in a calm, acclimatizing state for the process to advance, and it only moves forward while you keep the area loaded around it. If you wander too far, the game pauses the whole thing until you come back.
Taming a Moose takes a while, so expect to feed it across a long unbothered stretch. When it finishes, the animal drops its hostile behavior and becomes your pet. A Brew of Animal Whispers cuts the taming time in half if you want to speed things up.
If the hearts stop appearing, one of a few things is usually wrong. The Moose is frightened because you are visible or standing too close, another creature is agitating it through the fence, or it cannot reach the berries you dropped. Clearing those problems restarts the progress.

How to mount the Moose with a Moose Saddle
A tamed Moose cannot be ridden until you craft and attach a Moose Saddle. You build the saddle at a Level 2 Artisan Table using the recipe below.
| Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Bloodgold | 4 |
| Seal Pelt | 5 |
| Timberwood | 5 |
| Linen Thread | 15 |
Once the saddle is made, place it in your hotbar, aim at the tamed Moose, and press the matching button to fit it. After that you can climb on and use the animal to cross the snow and take on threats in the biome.
How to heal an injured Moose
A Moose spawns with 1,000 health, but the enemies roaming the Deep North hit hard enough to drop it in only a handful of blows. When it takes heavy damage, ride it to a safe spot away from combat and feed it Lingonberries to restore its health. The same berry that tames the animal keeps it alive, so carry a spare stack whenever you head into a fight.
