Valheim 1.0: Best World Seeds to Start in the Deep North

Community seed codes that cluster bosses, biomes, and traders near spawn, plus how to lock one in at world creation.

Community seed codes that cluster bosses, biomes, and traders near spawn, plus how to lock one in at world creation.

Every Valheim world is built from a seed, a short text string that decides where your continents sit, which biomes surround spawn, and how far you sail to reach each boss altar or trader. Two players who type the same seed on the same game version get the exact same map, which is why sharing codes works at all. With 1.0 and the Deep North now live, a well-chosen seed can shave hours off early travel and put your first four boss fights within reach of one base.

Quick answer: Enter SuperSeed at world creation for a large starting continent with the first four bosses and all three traders nearby. The seed locks in permanently the moment the world generates, so pick before you confirm.

How to enter a Valheim seed at world creation

The seed is not tied to your world’s name, so you can reuse a code across differently named worlds and get an identical map every time. That makes it easy to test a seed solo before committing your group to it.

From the main menu, select Start Game, then Create new. This opens the world creation screen with a world name field and a seed field.
The seed field auto-fills with a random string. Select that text and delete it so you can type your own code.
Paste or type your chosen seed, such as SuperSeed or HHcLC5acQt. Case and spelling matter, so match the code exactly.

Name the world anything you like and confirm. The name does not change the map. Once the world generates, the seed is fixed and cannot be changed later without starting over.

On a dedicated server there is no seed argument, so the seed lives inside the world file. Generate the world in your game client first, play for a minute or two to force a save, then upload the resulting .fwl and .db files to the server’s worlds_local folder.

Best seeds for a fast, boss-heavy start

These codes cluster boss altars, biomes, and at least one trader close to spawn, which cuts sailing time and suits fast progression or speed-focused runs. SuperSeed is the strongest all-rounder, pairing a huge starting landmass with the first four bosses and every trader nearby.

Seeds for traders, co-op, and easy building

If your priority is early gear or keeping a group together, look for traders bunched on one landmass and multiple islands within short sailing distance. Haldor sells the Megingjord belt and a fishing rod, Hildir sells stat-boosting gear, and the Bog Witch stocks mead ingredients, so a trader-dense seed pays off fast.

SeedWhat it offers
sDUeGUS3mcSeveral bosses and traders on the starting island, with Eikthyr about 200 meters from spawn. Strong for co-op boss-farming routes.
PirateAll three traders already on the starting island for early Fishing Rod, mead, and Hildir gear.
42069beansAll three traders placed on a single island, ideal for a central trading hub.
AngelMassive starting area with every biome and two spots where all traders sit close together.
NewworldBosses and traders both near the initial spawn, tuned for convenience without killing exploration.
46slaRqpSwMultiple traders spawning close together, good for larger groups.
FLOridaSeveral central islands in a loose ring around spawn so a party can split up without long solo sails.
OdinBeginner-friendly, rich Meadows spawn with Eikthyr’s altar a short run away and the Elder’s biome not far past it.

Novelty and challenge seeds

A few codes exist for veterans who want an unusual layout rather than the fastest route. Pirate68 places multiple bosses near spawn while stretching the starting landmass far north, which makes reaching the Deep North less of a slog and gives builders room for roads and outposts. MGJPxIV04t drops you on a small island inside a lake, turning swimming into part of your first hour. WoodWepon1 puts a Mountain biome right against the Ashlands ocean, with scenic Mistlands and Deep North views at the map’s edges.

SeedWhat it offers

Gz4469MVUbAn almost unbroken stretch of land running from the top to the bottom of the map.
GremlinOver 20 beehives and Haldor on the first continent.
MGJPxIV04tSpawn on a small island inside a lake for an early swimming challenge.
WoodWepon1Mountain biome beside the Ashlands ocean, with strong scenery near the Mistlands and Deep North.
maypoleplzA maypole on the starting continent to the west.
jWM4fqFdSmTwo maypole locations on the island southwest of spawn.

Starting fresh versus your existing world

Valheim 1.0 arrived with the Deep North, the game’s final biome, and Iron Gate recommends starting over from scratch for the best experience. Your old saves are untouched and remain playable, but there is a catch worth understanding before you decide.

New biome content only generates in areas nobody has visited. If your longship never reached the far north and those tiles were never loaded, the real Deep North will generate the first time you sail in. If you already explored the old placeholder north, that terrain is baked into your world file and stays exactly as it is. This is the same explored-versus-unexplored behavior seen when the Mistlands and Ashlands shipped.

Because of that, any brand-new world from a seed you pick now generates its Deep North fresh, since you have not explored it either way. If you want a clean 1.0 run, a fresh seed is the safe choice.

Note: the achievement system starts tracking statistics from the moment you download 1.0, so nothing earned before counts retroactively, and a character that has used cheats carries a permanent flag that blocks unlocks.

Confirm the seed generated what you expected

World generation code can change between major versions, so a seed that placed everything perfectly in an older patch may look different in 1.0. Before you commit a long-term world, run the code through a seed-map viewer, which renders the full map, including boss altars and trader spots, without loading the game. If the layout matches the description for your version, generate it in-game.

You will know a seed is working correctly once the map matches the layout you previewed and the Vegvisir runestones near each boss altar mark the exact summon locations as you explore. If a shared seed does not produce what you expected, that is almost always a version difference rather than a wrong code.

Don’t sink more than about twenty minutes into hunting a flawless seed. Every layout has a weak point somewhere, and a start with bosses, biomes, and a trader all near spawn is worth far more than a slightly prettier island. Save the exact seed string somewhere outside the game so you can regenerate a test copy or hand it to a friend who wants to scout ahead.
