Crimson Desert: How to Put Fuel Into the Kiln at the Kilnden Workshop

All five fuel orb locations, the Axiom Force controls that move them, and the fix for the orb that fails to spawn.

All five fuel orb locations, the Axiom Force controls that move them, and the fix for the orb that fails to spawn.

The fuel objective is the northernmost of the three kiln repairs in Kiln Repair at the Kilnden Workshop, a Chapter 4 main quest in Crimson Desert. Unlike the dismantled kiln, there is no assembly puzzle here. The kiln has five round ports built into its exterior, and each one needs a glowing blue orb pushed inside before the machine will light.

Quick answer: Hold L3 (Left Stick) to grab each of the five blue orbs with Axiom Force, guide them into the round openings around the kiln so they roll in, then push the wooden lever on the side of the kiln to fire it up.

Requirements before starting the fuel objective

You need Axiom Force, the telekinetic grab ability bound to holding L3 on a controller. The ancient generator on the hill must already be running, since the fuel kiln draws power from it. Everything else is optional. Force Palm is only needed for the dismantled kiln, not this one.

Open your map and zoom into your position before you start walking. Five circular markers appear around the kiln, one per orb, which saves a lot of hunting in the flooded ground to the west. The orbs also glow bright blue and are ringed with a highlight, so they stand out against the mud and stone.

All 5 fuel orb locations around the kiln

Two orbs sit on the kiln platform itself. The other three are within a short walk, mostly in the shallow water below the platform.

OrbWhere it isHow to get it
1On the ground directly beside the kilnGrab with Axiom Force and carry it a few steps
2On the ground near the stone wall ringing the platformGrab with Axiom Force and carry it back
3In the shallow stream directly below the kiln platformDrop down, grab it, then climb the stone wall back up
4The eye of the large bird statue standing in the waterAim at the glowing eye, then hold L2/LT to pull it free
5Inside a rocky crevice with a wooden ladder, further along the streamPull it out from the mouth of the cave and float it back

The bird statue is the one that trips people up. The orb is not lying at its feet, it is set into the head as an eye. Stand off to one side rather than head on, hold L3 to lock onto the glowing eye, and keep the pull held until it pops loose.

How to insert the fuel orbs into the kiln ports

Hold L3 near an orb until the force beam latches onto it. The orb lifts off the ground and stays suspended in front of you while you keep the button held, so you can walk with it.
Walk the orb to the kiln and line it up with one of the round openings. There are four around the body and one more at the back, so work your way around rather than trying to feed everything into the same port.

Use the push and pull inputs to nudge the orb into the mouth of the port until it rolls inside on its own. Precise Control lets you rotate and fine-tune the position if the orb keeps bumping off the rim.

Repeat for the remaining orbs. Handle the two on the platform first, since they are the quickest, then head down to the water for the stream orb, the statue eye, and the one in the crevice.

Tip: You do not have to carry every orb by hand across the whole distance. Grabbing an orb from range and dragging it toward the platform works, and it beats climbing the wall with one in tow.

Activate the kiln and confirm the objective is done

With all five orbs inside, walk into the wooden lever on the side of the kiln and push it to the left. The kiln powers on, flame and light spill out of the structure, and the objective clears from the tracker. If the lever does nothing, one port is still empty, so circle the kiln and check each opening.

This is one of three kilns in the quest. Once the disconnected kiln and the dismantled kiln are also running, head back up to Grimnir by the ancient generator to close out the quest and move on to The Mysterious Pot.

Fuel orb missing or crime warning: what to do

The cave orb does not spawn

The orb near the cave entrance sometimes fails to appear, leaving you one short with no way to progress. Restarting the game is the first thing to try. If the orb still is not there after a reboot, load an older autosave from the end of the previous quest and replay up to this point.

Witnessed and Assault warning at the bird statue

Yanking the orb out of the statue can register as a crime if workers are watching. You will see a Crimes notice saying residents witnessed your actions and are on high alert, with a warning that further criminal acts will alert the authorities. Move away from the area and stay out of sight until it clears, then return for the rest of the orbs.

The whole objective takes a few minutes once you know the five spots, and the only real friction is the fiddly aiming at the statue eye and the occasional orb that refuses to sit in a port. Slow the camera down, feed one orb in at a time, and the kiln lights on the first lever push.
