The Rusty Shovel is the cheapest tool in Grand Blue that gates real content. Without it, the dig spots scattered along the Anchor Port coastline do nothing, and Wade’s two-part questline stays locked no matter how strong your character is. It costs 25 Gold, it has no level requirement, and it sits out in the open if you know which wall to look at.
Quick answer: In Anchor Port, walk to the incline that leads up toward the Blacksmith and Almighty Calvin. The Rusty Shovel is leaning against the wall beside that ramp — interact with it and pay 25 Gold to add it to your inventory.
Rusty Shovel cost, location, and requirements
There is no vendor menu, no crafting recipe, and no quest prerequisite for the shovel itself. It is a world pickup with a price attached, which means a brand-new character can own one within a few minutes of loading into Grand Blue on Roblox.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Item | Rusty Shovel |
| Cost | 25 Gold |
| Level requirement | None |
| Where | Anchor Port, against the wall by the incline to the Blacksmith and Almighty Calvin |
| Main use | Digging quest objects; required for Wade’s questline |

Note: A second Rusty Shovel is available on the Almighty Calvin platform above, tied to his free “Wizards Apprentice” dig quest. If you are already running that quest, pick up the shovel below his stone platform instead of paying for one.

Add to Google Preferences →What the shovel unlocks: Wade’s questline at Anchor Port
Wade stands on the beach at Anchor Port, marked with a green exclamation point above his head. He hands out two quests, and neither can be repeated once completed, so the Gold and EXP below are one-time payouts.
| Quest | What you do | Rewards |
|---|---|---|
| Finders Keepers (Level 8) | Dig up 5 of Wade’s belongings from marked holes, then defeat 4 Level 10 Treasure Hunters | 115 EXP, 282 Gold, Easy Treasure Map, 10 Anchor Town Reputation |
| The Priceless Haul | Farm Treasure Hunters for 3 Soggy Boots, take them to the merchant to turn up a wedding ring, return it to Wade | 129 EXP, 1,000 Gold, 10 Anchor Town Reputation |
The level gate matters here. The shovel has no requirement, but “Finders Keepers” will not start below Level 8, and the coastline is patrolled by Level 10 Treasure Hunters who will chase you while you dig. Following the yellow path indicator on the ground is the fastest way to line up the dig sites in order.

Clearing the four Treasure Hunters is the harder half of the first quest. They hit at Level 10, so pull them one at a time rather than digging in the middle of a group, and keep an eye on the in-combat indicator before you start another dig.

“The Priceless Haul” reuses the same enemies. Keep killing Treasure Hunters until 3 Soggy Boots drop, bring them to the merchant for appraisal, and the wedding ring turns up inside. Handing that ring back to Wade closes out the chain and pays the 1,000 Gold.

How to confirm the shovel worked
Two checks tell you the purchase went through. First, the Rusty Shovel shows up in your inventory and your character visibly holds it when equipped. Second, Wade’s exclamation mark becomes an accept-able quest instead of a refusal once you are Level 8, and the dig holes along the beach respond when you interact with them.
If a dig spot does nothing, run through these in order:
- The shovel is not equipped — owning it is not enough, it has to be in hand.
- You are under Level 8, so “Finders Keepers” was never accepted and the holes have no active objective attached.
- A different quest is tracked. Confirm Wade’s quest is the highlighted one before digging or fighting, since progress can fail to register otherwise.
- You already finished the quest. Both of Wade’s quests are non-repeatable and will not reappear.
At 25 Gold with no level gate, grabbing the shovel early is worth doing even if you are nowhere near Level 8 yet — it also covers Almighty Calvin’s dig quest, and it sits in your inventory until you need it.
