Digi-Gauntlet: You Can’t Fire Me, I Quit Walkthrough in Borderlands 4

Find J33VES, blow the Vine Pointe Lodge door, and hand Manager Schulmann's gauntlet to Mr. Chew.

Find J33VES, blow the Vine Pointe Lodge door, and hand Manager Schulmann’s gauntlet to Mr. Chew.

“Digi-Gauntlet: You Can’t Fire Me, I Quit” is one of the gauntlet-collection side jobs tied to the Throwing Down the Digi-Gauntlet questline in Borderlands 4. It begins in the Bagheera Range with a robot who charges you money for the privilege of working, and it ends with a Tediore middle manager handing over his hardware rather than staying employed.

Quick answer: Talk to J33VES in the Bagheera Range and pay the cash fee to start the job, travel to the Vinechoked Canopy, wipe out the Tediore forces and grab all four loot codes, then carry skull bombs to the sealed security door at Vine Pointe Lodge to blow it open. Find Manager Schulmann inside, stage his death, and deliver his Digi-Gauntlet to Mr. Chew to close the mission.

Mission requirements and key locations

This is a DLC start mission, so it shows up on the map alongside the main DLC mission Throwing Down the Digi-Gauntlet. You need cash on hand before you talk to J33VES, because the quest does not begin until the fee is paid.

Start the mission at J33VES in the Bagheera Range

Open the map and set your marker on the Digi-Gauntlet start mission in the Bagheera Range. It sits near the Throwing Down the Digi-Gauntlet main mission node, so check the icon type before you travel.
Head across the pink overgrowth toward the marked building. A digital barrier covers the doorway, and shooting it clears the way inside.

Speak to J33VES and accept the job. You pay a cash fee at this point, and the mission does not appear in your tracker until that transaction goes through.

Clear the Vinechoked Canopy and collect four loot codes

Fast travel or drive to the Vinechoked Canopy and push into the Tediore-held ground. Supervisors lead the defense here, and they are marked on screen when you lock onto them.

Kill the marked enemies and pick up the loot codes they drop. Your HUD tracks the count, so watch it climb toward 4/4 rather than assuming a kill registered.
Deal with the heavier Deadframes guarding the area, including a Voltaic Badass Frame. Shock-resistant shields help here, and the last codes usually come off these tougher units.

Blow open the Vine Pointe Lodge security door with skull bombs

With the counter at 4/4, move to the sealed door at Vine Pointe Lodge. Shooting it does nothing, and no terminal will open it.

Gather skull bombs from around the area and carry them back to the door. Repeat the trip until enough charges are stacked to breach it.

Note: you move slower while carrying a skull bomb, so clear nearby enemies before you start hauling them rather than fighting with your hands full.

Find Manager Schulmann and take the Digi-Gauntlet

Head inside and follow the objective marker up the stairs to Manager Schulmann. The marker sits directly on the interactable point, so you do not need to search the room.

Work through the exchange with Schulmann. His death gets staged so he can walk away from Tediore, and his Digi-Gauntlet ends up in your inventory as the mission item.

Hand the gauntlet to Mr. Chew

Fast travel back to Mr. Chew and turn the gauntlet in. He takes it and drops it into the pan with the others, which is the visual confirmation that the delivery registered.

How to confirm the mission is complete

Completion lands the moment Mr. Chew accepts the gauntlet and the mission-complete prompt fires. The job leaves your active tracker, and the next gauntlet objective in the chain becomes selectable on the map. If the gauntlet is still sitting in your mission items, the turn-in never happened and you need to speak to Mr. Chew again.

Reasons the quest stalls

  • No cash for the fee. J33VES will not start the job until you can pay, so sell or bank loot first.
  • Loot codes below 4/4. The counter only advances when you physically pick the codes up after a kill, not when the enemy dies.
  • Door still sealed. Skull bombs are the only way through. Shooting the door, grappling, or looking for a keycard does nothing.
  • Gauntlet not delivered. The mission stays open until Mr. Chew has it in hand, even after Schulmann is dealt with.

Each gauntlet job in the chain follows the same shape, so finishing this one is good practice for the rest. Some Like It Hot sends you into the Pyroclast Field to cook Ducky out of a sauna, and R&D ends with a boss fight against Dr. Elena Smith beneath the Chamber Pavilion. All of them funnel back to Mr. Chew and the same pan.
