Every match in Illegal Soccer turns on the items you carry. There are 14 of them, ranging from a Jetpack that lets you fly across the pitch to Barricades that wall off your goal, and each one changes whether you attack, defend, chase loose balls, or shut down an opponent’s run. The catch is that items are unlocked at random, so knowing which ones are worth chasing helps you build a loadout that pulls its weight.
Quick answer: Prioritize Jetpack, Rocket Punch, and Freeze Gun. They give you mobility, possession stealing, and crowd control that pay off in almost any situation.

Illegal Soccer items ranked (S to D)
Items are graded on how reliably they help you score, win the ball back, defend, or reposition, balanced against how hard they are to use well. This ranking reflects the current September 2026 item pool.
| Tier | Items |
|---|---|
| S | Jetpack, Rocket Punch, Freeze Gun |
| A | Shotgun, Bazooka, Grappling Hook, Barricades |
| B | Forcefield, Magnet, Landmines |
| C | Oil Spill, Flintlock, Supercharge |
| D | Energy Drink |

The Jetpack sits at the very top because pure movement solves the most problems. You can lift over defenders, cut to the ball from angles no one is guarding, and turn broken plays into chances. It is also the rarest item in the game, so getting it is the hard part.
Rocket Punch and Freeze Gun round out the S tier by attacking the ball carrier directly. Rocket Punch locks on and launches an opponent away, ripping the ball free and opening space in an instant, which makes it dangerous on kickoffs. Freeze Gun locks a player in place, and freezing a defender or the goalkeeper near the net often hands you a clean shot.
The A tier is where accuracy starts to matter. Shotgun stops fast dribblers cold at close range, Bazooka clears a group with splash knockback from mid to long range, and Grappling Hook closes distance in a hurry. Barricades sit here too because good placement can block shots and funnel opponents away from your goal, though a badly placed wall does nothing.
Lower tiers reward setup and situation. Forcefield, Magnet, and Landmines all have clear jobs, protecting a dribble, snapping up loose balls, and denying key routes, but none of them create offense on their own. Oil Spill, Flintlock, and Supercharge only pay off with correct reads or timing, and Flintlock is simply a shorter-range Shotgun. Energy Drink lands in D because a generic stat boost does not steal the ball, disrupt anyone, or improve your positioning.

Every item: rarity, drop chance, and role
Rarity affects how often an item appears when you roll. Higher rarity means a lower drop chance, which is why the S-tier picks are also some of the toughest to unlock.
| Item | Rarity | Drop chance | Main role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jetpack | Mythic | 1% | Fly across the field and reach the ball from anywhere |
| Rocket Punch | Rare | 4.6% | Lock on and launch an opponent to steal possession |
| Freeze Gun | Epic | 3.5% | Freeze a player to open a tackle or shot |
| Bazooka | Epic | 3.5% | Explosive area knockback on grouped players |
| Landmines | Rare | 4.7% | Place traps that launch nearby players |
| Flintlock | Rare | 4.7% | Single short-range shot that knocks a player down |
| Oil Spill | Rare | 4.7% | Slippery ground that makes players lose control |
| Grappling Hook | Uncommon | 7% | Pull yourself toward the ball or a player |
| Magnet | Uncommon | 7% | Draw a loose ball toward you |
| Shotgun | Uncommon | 7% | Close-range blast that knocks an opponent down |
| Supercharge | Uncommon | 7% | Short burst of extra movement speed |
| Barricades | Common | 12.5% | Place up to three walls to block shots and routes |
| Forcefield | Common | 12.5% | Brief protection from tackles and attacks |
| Energy Drink | Common | 12.5% | Temporary stat boost |

How to unlock and use items
Items come from a roll system in the shop, and every roll is random. Once an item is unlocked it stays in your pool permanently, and you can then draw it during a match.
Note: only one randomizer block appears at a time, so reaching it is often a race. Because the item you draw is random, you may not always have the exact effect you want, which is another reason to fill your pool with high-value picks first.

If you are still building a collection, chase the Jetpack for its game-changing mobility, then lean on Rocket Punch and Freeze Gun to break up attacks and manufacture chances. Defensive players get the most out of Barricades, Forcefield, and a well-aimed Shotgun, while the C and D items are fine as filler until better rolls come in.
