Where Winds Meet: How to Complete the Mohist Voice Encounter

Every sound the Voice Box needs, the two time-of-day windows, and the rewards for finishing the Hidden Mountain encounter.

Every sound the Voice Box needs, the two time-of-day windows, and the rewards for finishing the Hidden Mountain encounter.

Mohist Voice is an Encounter quest in the Hidden Mountain region of Where Winds Meet, and it hinges on two things most quests do not ask for: a specific Mystic Skill and two separate time-of-day windows. You start by chasing a rumored ghost at night and end by conducting a full musical performance in a flower field. Between those bookends, you carry a Voice Box around Suixiang and capture five sounds tied to an old Mohist troupe.

Quick answer: Freeze the “Ghost” near Yu Ge’s house during a night hour using Meridian Touch, record five sounds with the Voice Box, then return to Seven-Hued Plain during the afternoon Shen hour to start the performance.

What you need before starting Mohist Voice

The encounter sits in Hidden Mountain–Suixiang, and it will not progress at all unless you meet these conditions first.

  • Access to Hidden Mountain and the Silvereed Shoal fast travel point.
  • The Meridian Touch Mystic Skill equipped in your Abilities menu.
  • A night hour set on the time wheel — Zi, Chou, Yin, or Hai — for the opening investigation.
  • The afternoon Shen hour (15:00–17:00) for the final scene at Seven-Hued Plain.

Set the clock before you travel rather than after. The time wheel and the fast travel map are both in the same menu cluster, so it takes seconds and saves you a second loading screen.

Trigger the encounter and freeze the “Ghost” at night

Track the Mohist Voice encounter from your quest list. The objective points you toward a strange noise that can only be investigated during the night hours, so nothing will spawn if you arrive in daylight.
Fast travel to Silvereed Shoal and head for the marker. The approach runs up a set of wooden stairs and across a waterfall, so a glide gets you onto the platform faster than climbing around it.
Open the Abilities menu and slot Meridian Touch before you get close. The prompt at the quest site literally reads “Immobilize to stop the noise,” and no other approach advances the objective.
Find the figure labeled “Ghost” near the cottage and hit it with Meridian Touch. Once the IMMOBILIZED status appears, interact to reveal the ghost is Yu Ge, who explains what she was doing out there and hands you the Voice Box.

All five Voice Box recordings and their locations

The Voice Box lives in the quest tab of your inventory. You equip it, stand in the marked spot, and use it while the sound is playing. Here is the full set in the order the quest hands them to you.

Use the Voice Box near the tree by Yu Ge’s house to capture the insect chirping. Speak to Yu Ge again afterwards and she will bring up her grandfather’s journal and the Harmony Troupe.
Read the journal entry “Voice of Mohists,” then step into the wooden study nearby. Inspect the faded letter on the desk — you need it later — and read the “Precepts of the Mohist Dao” hanging by the window before recording the wind moving through the flute pipes. There is also a black-and-white cat on the bed you can pet, which costs nothing but a second.
Fast travel to Confluence Gazebo and find the elders Lin Sheng and Ma Jingchun. Hand them the faded letter, listen to them reminisce about the old debates, then use the Voice Box on the balcony to capture the sutra debate.
Travel to Deepwave Works and speak with Yu Yun and Yu Xingmao near the large mechanical rig at the docks. The crew starts chanting as they haul a load, and that is your window to record the sound of labor.
Talk to Workers

Head to Mountain Verge and climb to the cliff edge, where Liang Qiqi is already singing. Talk to her, submit Senior Yu’s Lyrics, and she performs the full melody — use the Voice Box during the song to record it.

Return the Voice Box and set the clock to Shen hour

With all five sounds stored, fast travel back to Yu Ge’s house and return the Voice Box. She plays back the recordings, works through what her grandfather left behind, and lays out her plan to revive the Harmony Troupe.

The performance is time-locked. Open the time wheel and move it to the afternoon Shen hour, then fast travel to Seven-Hued Plain. Cross the flower field to the assembled troupe, speak with Yu Ge and the gathered members, and interact with the stone table to select Begin Performance.

The performance runs as a long cutscene with your character playing alongside the troupe’s chime wheels. There is a short closing conversation with Yu Ge afterwards, so stay put until that dialogue ends.

Mohist Voice rewards and how to confirm completion

You know it worked when the reward screen appears with the header “Encounter-Mohist Voice.” That banner only shows after the final conversation with Yu Ge, not after the performance cutscene itself.

The Mohist Voice book lands in your inventory as a keepsake of the troupe’s revival, and the Hidden Mountain exploration points push your regional completion for Suixiang a little higher. If the reward screen has not appeared, check whether the closing dialogue with Yu Ge is still waiting on the stone stage — that final exchange is what actually closes the encounter.
