Final Selection is the gate that turns a nobody into a Slayer in Slayers 2, the Ouw Productions follow-up to Project Slayers. It is a single continuous quest chain inside a walled-off trial area, run by a pair of NPCs called The Sisters, and it ends with a boss fight you cannot skip. Clear it and you walk out with a uniform, a crow, and an actual rank. Fail or leave early and you wait for the area to open again.
Quick answer: Finish all eight Final Selection NPC quests in order, kill the Hand Demon, then speak to The Sisters to claim the Mizunoto rank.
What clearing Final Selection gives you
The trial pays out in two places. The guaranteed rewards come from The Sisters when you report back at the end. The extras come from the chests that open around the boss arena once the Hand Demon is down.
| Reward | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Mizunoto rank | The Sisters, on completion |
| Slayer Uniform | The Sisters, on completion |
| Ore | The Sisters, on completion |
| Kasugai Crow | The Sisters, on completion |
| Monster Hood, Coin Pouches | Post-boss chests |
| Black Kumo Slayers Uniform, Black Kumo Haori | Post-boss chests |
Mizunoto is the bottom rung of the Slayer ladder, with ranks like Kinoe sitting above it. The Kasugai Crow matters more than it looks, since it becomes your quest source going forward.

The event runs on a rotation rather than a fixed daily schedule. Final Selection spawns once every two hours, so if you arrive between windows you simply wait for the next cycle instead of hunting for a specific clock time. Bring healing items before you go in, because a full run takes a while and the demon fights stack up quickly.
Final Selection quest order
Every quest unlocks the next one, so there is no skipping ahead. Each NPC stands close enough to the last that quest markers with distance readouts will walk you between them.

Beating the Hand Demon
The Hand Demon has 1,310 HP and is the only thing standing between you and the Slayer Corps. It hits hard enough that a solo run with no healing items is a gamble, and grouping up with other players in the trial makes the damage race much shorter.
Once it dies, several reward chests become lootable around the arena. Open all of them before you leave, since this is where the Monster Hood, the Coin Pouches, and the Black Kumo cosmetics come from.
Ranged or gap-closing abilities give you more control here than trading basic swings, because the boss punishes standing still in front of it.
Confirming you actually passed
Killing the boss does not end the trial on its own. Walk back to The Sisters and speak to them one more time. The run is confirmed when your rank updates to Mizunoto, your outfit is swapped for the Slayer Uniform, and the Ore and Kasugai Crow land in your inventory. If none of that has happened, you still have a quest turn-in outstanding.

Raising Slayer Progress with gourds at the Butterfly Estate
Mizunoto is a starting point, not a ceiling. Slayer Progress is the track that raises it, and gourds are how you fill the bar. The gourd shop lives at the Butterfly Estate, but it is locked until you help the NPC who runs it.
Unlock Ren’s gourd shop
Find Ren at the Butterfly Estate. He has misplaced his Nichirin Blade, which sits by the waterfall near the estate. Bring it back and his shop opens permanently.

Buying and using gourds
Gourds come in Small, Medium, and Large sizes. You equip one, use it, and the Slayer Progress bar fills by a fixed amount per gourd. Larger gourds are the efficient option once you can afford them.
| Gourd | Price | Slayer Progress |
|---|---|---|
| Medium Gourd | 3,000 Wen | Partial fill |
| Large Gourd | 8,800 Wen | +300 |
Level 1 requires 2,000 Slayer Progress to clear, and the requirement climbs to 3,000 for the next level, so expect the cost per level to keep rising. Note: each Slayer Progress level grants permanent stat increases, including Max Stamina, Max Health, and Max Health Factor, so the Wen is not a cosmetic purchase.
Unlocking Ginzo at Mistfall Harbor to pay for it all
Large Gourds are expensive, and the fastest way to fund them is to cash in the junk you have been collecting. Ginzo is the merchant who buys it, and he stands at Mistfall Harbor.
His shop is locked behind one errand. Talk to him, then travel to the Village Hidden in the Mist, go into his house, grab the Jewelry Box, and physically carry it back to him at the harbor. Once it is delivered, his sell menu opens.
Coin Stacks and Coin Piles are the items worth hoarding for him. A stockpile of 92 Coin Stacks sells for 41,725 Wen, which is enough for several Large Gourds in a single trip back to Ren.
The loop from there is simple enough to repeat. Collect coin drops while you grind, sell them to Ginzo, buy Large Gourds from Ren, and burn them to push Slayer Progress up one level at a time. It is the cleanest early path from freshly minted Mizunoto to a character with stats that hold up outside the trial grounds.
