Logan has been through a lot of wardrobes since 1974, and Insomniac’s take on the character pulls from nearly all of them. Marvel’s Wolverine ships with 32 unlockable costumes on PlayStation 5, spanning classic comic runs, movie looks, an animated series homage, a fighting game crossover, and a handful of designs the studio built from scratch.
Quick answer: There are 32 suits in total — 23 adapted from comics, films, TV and games, plus nine original Insomniac designs. You craft them using Materials collected from crates during missions.

Add to Google Preferences →How to unlock suits with Materials
Costumes are crafted rather than simply handed out at story beats. The currency is Materials, and the most reliable source is the crates scattered through mission areas, each of which grants +50 Materials. Collectibles such as the Fist of Legend whiskey bottles sit alongside them in the same exploration loop, so sweeping the edges of each level pays for wardrobe upgrades faster than sticking to the critical path.
Once a suit is crafted, it moves into the suit selection screen inside the gear menu, where you pick it and see Logan switch immediately. That menu is also where you toggle the cowl on suits that have one, so a masked design can be worn with his face exposed.
Suits take visible damage as you fight. Cloth outfits like Tank Top tear and soak through with blood across a long encounter, so the look you pick at the start of a mission is not the look you finish with.
Insomniac’s nine original designs
Nine suits carry no comic issue number and are credited to the studio itself. They cover the spread from military-grade gear to Logan at his most stripped-down.
- Team X Tactical — yellow and black tactical rig with straps and pouches, the suit Logan opens the game in.
- Battle Reborn — the classic yellow and blue palette rebuilt with armor plating.
- Dressed Down — red plaid flannel, jeans, and a cowboy hat.
- Leather Jacket — brown leather over a plaid shirt.
- Black Tank — black tank top and blue jeans.
- Feral — shirtless, long hair, full beard, and tattered pants.
- Future Fugitive — dark grey and black with gold textured patterning.
- Savage — yellow and black stripes with glowing red eyes.
- Night Hunt — grey and black tactical suit with a full mask.
Team X Tactical sets the tone for the whole set, introduced in a snowy forest fight where the blood spray against white ground does most of the visual work.

Movie, TV, and crossover suits
Four costumes come from outside the comics page, and they are the most visually distinct entries in the list because two of them change how Logan is rendered entirely.
Tank Top and Yellow Variant
Tank Top recreates the white vest and blue jeans from the 2000 X-Men film, and it is the suit that shows battle damage most dramatically. Yellow Variant is the bright long-sleeved yellow and blue outfit from Deadpool & Wolverine, shown in combat against Sentinel units on a terrace.
Animated and Tokon
Both of these swap Logan’s shading model. Animated renders him cel-shaded in the 1992 X-Men: The Animated Series costume, including during cutscenes. Tokon does something similar with an anime-styled yellow and blue suit with teal accents, lifted from Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, and it carries through a full cinematic sequence with Sabretooth.
Notable comic-accurate suits
Weapon X
Drawn from Marvel Comics Presents #79, this one puts Logan in a high-tech helmet and visor with cables still attached to his body and almost nothing else. It is the least protected he ever looks, which makes the shipping container fight it debuts in read very differently from the armored suits.

Old Man Logan and Patch
Old Man Logan, from Wolverine (Vol 3) #66, is the long brown duster coat with a grey shirt and dark pants. Patch, from Marvel Comics Presents #10, goes in the opposite direction with a white tuxedo jacket, black bow tie, and an eye patch. Accursed, also from the Marvel Comics Presents run, uses a different eye-patch look with wild hair and a black sleeveless top.
Incredible
The first-appearance suit from The Incredible Hulk #181, complete with the whiskered mask. It is shown off in a suburban neighborhood at night, with fighting spilling across backyards and rooftops.

Age of Apocalypse, Death, and Hellverine
These three change Logan’s silhouette rather than just his colors. Age of Apocalypse ends his left arm in a metallic cap. Death, from Astonishing X-Men #1 (1999), covers his face entirely with a red hood over blue-grey armor. Hellverine, from Hellverine #1 (2024), replaces his head with a flaming skull and adds chains over a black and yellow suit — the most extreme design in the set, and the one the showcase saves for last.
Claw variants and cowl options
Suits are not the only cosmetic layer. Claws can be swapped independently, with options including the standard metal movie-style claws, feral bone claws, and hooked curved claws. Combined with the cowl toggle in the suit menu, that means a single costume can be run in several visually distinct configurations without touching your upgrade loadout.
Claw selection is cosmetic and separate from suit choice, so switching costumes does not reset which claws you have equipped.
Marvel’s Wolverine is a PlayStation 5 exclusive developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, with Liam McIntyre voicing Logan. If you are working toward a specific costume, the fastest approach is simply to stop clearing rooms and start opening crates — every 50 Materials moves you closer to the one you actually want to wear.
