Emberpup is the first record in the Aniimo index, a Fire DPS at the Lumin stage, and it almost never travels alone. The small coal-furred pups shadow a larger Flameruff, so both halves of the family show up in the same patch of grass. That makes catching the pair a single trip rather than two separate hunts.

Quick answer: Emberpup and Flameruff spawn together in packs in Nimbus Fields (Lv. 17–21) in the Breezy Plains. You can also evolve a Lv. 12 Emberpup into Flameruff after clearing Sanctum: First Spark.
Emberpup and Flameruff location in Nimbus Fields
Open the map and set your route to Nimbus Fields, the Lv. 17–21 zone in the Breezy Plains that sits next to Mistwoods. Spawn areas for the family are flagged as yellow squares on the map screen, and the pack density there is high enough that you will usually see both species in one place.

Ride in from the south side of the field. The first pack rests in a patch of purple flowers beside a lone tree, with one Flameruff lying among several Emberpups. Levels are not fixed here, so you may find pups at Lv. 17 or Lv. 18 in one group and a Lv. 29 pup in another.

The second pack is a short ride north along the dirt path. It holds another Flameruff and a group of Emberpups clustered near a fire source, which is the easiest spot to grab both records back to back if the first group has already been cleared.

Packs respawn, so if a group is missing, ride out to the other marker and come back rather than waiting in place.

Nimbus Fields is the earliest and densest option, but the base record appears in five areas in total. If you are already past the early Breezy Plains zones, The Argent Strait is the more convenient stop.
| Habitat | Level range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Nimbus Fields | Lv. 17–21 | Packs with Flameruff |
| Mistwoods | — | Adjacent to Nimbus Fields |
| The Argent Strait | Lv. 28–32 | Higher-level spawns |
| Echoback Landing | — | Listed habitat |
| Beast Fang Ridge | — | Also the Mountain Woods form |
Weather and time of day shift which creatures are active in a given area, so a marker that looks empty during one visit can be full on the next.
How to evolve Emberpup into Flameruff
Catching a wild Flameruff is the fast route, but the evolution path gives you one you have raised yourself, and it is the only way to continue into the Nova stage with a copy you control from the start.

Clearing the Sanctum only unlocks the destination. The copy in your roster still has to hit Lv. 12 on its own.
Emberpup stats, trait, and skills
Emberpup is No. 001, a Fire element DPS with a base attribute total of 371. It carries the Hustle mobility skill, which burns stamina for a sustained speed boost in the field, and two Homeland abilities at Lv. 1.
| Stat | Value | Stat | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| HP | 67 | P.Def | 60 |
| ATK | 86 | M.Def | 53 |
| Break | 38 | Regen | 67 |
Its trait, Scorching Flames, raises damage dealt to enemies weak to your element by 15%. The combat kit is built around dodge-cancels rather than raw output.
- Fire Kick — dodge into a flaming dive-kick; a clean dodge deals 120% damage and raises damage by 20% for 20s.
- Pebble Kick — the Rock version of the same move. 0 EP cost, 40 power, 15s cooldown, and a successful dodge inflicts Blockade for 8s, which stops the target swapping Aniimo.
- Fire Bolt — an aimable fireball costing 10 EP that applies 2 stacks of Fire Debuff for 5s.
- ATK — the innate close-range fire attack.

Emberpup’s Highland and Mountain Woods forms
Three separate records share the Emberpup name, and they are not cosmetic swaps. Highland Emberpup adds Rock to its element line and lives in different regions entirely, so hunting Nimbus Fields for it is wasted travel.

| Form | Element / role | Where to hunt |
|---|---|---|
| Basic (No. 1A) | Fire / DPS | All five listed habitats |
| Highland (No. 1B) | Fire + Rock / DPS | Zephyrus Landbridge, Russet Highlands |
| Mountain Woods (No. 1C) | Fire / DPS | Beast Fang Ridge |
Zephyrus Landbridge runs Lv. 47–57 and Russet Highlands sits at Lv. 45–50, so the Highland record is a much later trip than the base one.
How to confirm both records are registered
Open the Aniilog and check entry No. 001. A captured Emberpup fills the Basic slot and leaves the Highland and Mountain Woods slots greyed out, which is the quickest way to tell which forms you still owe the index.
For Flameruff, the Gamma stage entry on the evolution track stops showing as locked once you have either caught one in Nimbus Fields or evolved a pup. If the evolve button on a Lv. 12 Emberpup is still unavailable, Sanctum: First Spark has not been cleared yet.
From there the line splits at Lv. 20 Flameruff into Scorchhowl, a Fire DPS that needs a Blaze Stone, and Inferlupa, a Fire/Dark Break record that needs a Night Stone plus six Unbroken Flameruff Spirit. Both are separate unlocks, so there is no rush to pick one while you are still filling out the pack in Nimbus Fields.
