Infestation Investigation in World of Warcraft: Full Quest Guide

Where to find the eight Pesky Cirrusfly targets on Zeplyrian Isle, and what the turn-in unlocks next.

Where to find the eight Pesky Cirrusfly targets on Zeplyrian Isle, and what the turn-in unlocks next.

Infestation Investigation is one of the first kill quests you run into on Zeplyrian Isle, and it is short enough that the walk there takes longer than the fighting. The targets are low-level bugs floating around open grass, so the only thing that slows most players down is running past spawns without noticing them.

Quick answer: Take Infestation Investigation from Elatrell Featherlight in Thendal Village, kill 8 Pesky Cirrusfly in the grove immediately south, then return to her for 190 experience and 1 silver 10 copper.

Where to pick up the quest in Thendal Village

Elatrell Featherlight stands among the tents inside Thendal Village, marked with the usual yellow exclamation point over her head and on the minimap. Thendal Grove is flagged as a sanctuary, so nothing in the camp will bother you while you sort out your quest log.

Open your map after accepting it. The highlighted objective area sits directly below the village on the Zeplyrian Isle map, covering the grassy slope between the camp and the shoreline.

How to kill 8 Pesky Cirrusfly in Thendal Grove

Leave Thendal Village through the southern side and head downhill into the open field. If your character has Walk on Air available, use it to cover the grove faster, since the route is mostly flat ground with scattered trees.

Look for the Pesky Cirrusfly spawns hovering over the grass. They carry yellow quest nameplates once you have the quest, which makes them easy to separate from the other wildlife drifting around the same area.

Pull them one at a time and burn them down. These are level 1–2 flying insects with very little health, so a starting weapon is enough and you will rarely need to stop and drink.
Work your way south toward the shoreline as the nearer spawns thin out. The counter in your quest tracker ticks up with each kill, and the objective closes at 8/8.

Clearing all eight solo takes roughly two minutes at normal pace, so there is no need to hunt for a specific spawn camp — the whole grove counts.

Group up to share Cirrusfly kill credit

Kill credit is shared across a party here, which matters because this is a starting zone and other players are usually farming the same field. Inviting whoever is nearby means every Cirrusfly the group drops counts for all of you at once.

It also removes the main annoyance of a crowded grove, which is watching someone else tag the bug you were running toward. If nobody is around, the spawns respawn quickly enough that solo clearing is not a problem.

What Pesky Cirrusfly drops

None of the loot is required for the objective, but the corpses are worth looting on the way through since early bag space and vendor copper both matter at this level. Common drops include:

  • Cirrusfly Wing
  • Torn Insect Wing
  • Chopped Cirrusfly Stinger
  • Ruined Pelt
  • Ragged Leather Gloves
  • Bent Large Shield

Turn in the quest and confirm it completed

Once the tracker reads 8/8, run back north uphill and re-enter Thendal Village. Elatrell Featherlight will now have a yellow question mark above her, which is the signal that the objective registered correctly on her end and not just in your log.

Talk to her and complete the quest. You know it worked when Infestation Investigation drops off your tracker, the reward of 190 experience and 1 silver 10 copper lands, and she immediately offers the next step in the chain against the Cirrusfly queen.

Accepting that follow-up right away is the cleanest move, because it sends you back into the same stretch of Thendal Grove you just cleared instead of making you run the hill a third time.
