Rookey is the armored, ball-shaped Dark Breaker that sits at the end of the Helmut line, and there are only two practical ways to add one to your Aniilog: catch a wild one in Russet Highlands, or evolve a Helmut you already own. The wild route is far quicker, and the creature itself makes it easy — Rookey is timid, avoids fights, and curls up when it hears loud noises, which means a quiet approach from behind usually ends the encounter on the first throw.
Quick answer: Rookey spawns in Russet Highlands at level 45–50. The easiest one sits south of First Sight Sanctum with a group of Helmuts — sneak down from the cliff above and throw an Aniipod from behind.
Rookey spawn locations in Russet Highlands
Russet Highlands is the only region Rookey lives in, and three spawn points are placed there across the basic, Mountain Woods and Snowfield versions. Time of day and weather do not gate the basic form — it appears day or night, in any weather — so there is no window to wait for.
| Spawn | Coordinates | Level |
|---|---|---|
| -0546, 1535 | 45–50 | |
| -0465, 1588 | 45–50 |

The spot south of First Sight Sanctum is the one worth learning. A lone Rookey stands there with three Helmuts, and the cliff overlooking the group gives you a clean drop straight onto its back.

Roughly 1 in 20,000 wild encounters rolls a Sparkling variant. It is not worth farming for deliberately, but it is worth checking the creature’s appearance before you throw.
Rookey catch rates by Aniipod type
A full-health Rookey has a 16% starting chance with a standard Aniipod. Other pods apply their own multipliers, while damaging or breaking the target raises the actual chance beyond every value listed in the table below.
| Aniipod | Multiplier | Chance at full HP |
|---|---|---|
| Aniipod | ×1 | 16% |
| ×1 | 16% | |
| ×1.5 | 24% | |
| ×2 | 32% | |
| ×2 | 32% | |
| ×2 | 32% | |
| Guaranteed | 100% | |
| Guaranteed | 100% |
Catching Alpha Rookey instead
Russet Highlands also holds a field boss version. Alpha Rookey is a level 40 encounter in the same region, tougher and larger than the wild spawns, and it drops rewards when you beat it. Once you have defeated it for the first time, an Aniipod Ultra will secure the catch outright — a reasonable use of a guaranteed pod if you would rather not fight the same boss twice.

Evolving Helmut into Rookey
Helmut branches at the Nova stage, and Rookey is the defensive half of that split. Reaching the level requirement alone will not trigger it — the evolution needs a specific combat condition and a passive talent unlocked first.

- Raise a Helmut to Lv. 45.
- Defeat an opponent with Counter damage while in Ballistic Guard.
- Learn the passive talent [Unwavering Rampart].
- Pay the evolution cost of Night Stone x3.
Ballistic Guard is the skill that makes this practical. It turns Rookey into a ball, damages targets where it lands, and grants 20% damage reduction plus heavy anti-interruption, releasing a shockwave when you are hit. It costs 20 EP with a 1-second cooldown and 52 power, so you can hold the state up and let an enemy finish itself on the counter damage.
Snowfield and Mountain Woods forms
Two regional variants share Russet Highlands with the basic form, and each has its own appearance condition. Both keep the same stat spread and the Guardbreak Resonance trait, but the Snowfield version adds Ice alongside Dark, which also adds Fire to its weakness list.
| Form | Element | Appears when |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Dark | Any time, any weather |
| Snowfield | Dark / Ice | Snowy weather, hidden inside snowballs near First Sight Sanctum |
| Mountain Woods | Dark | Completing “The Secret of the Golden Helmet” triggers a refresh |
Confirming the catch
A successful throw opens the profile card for No. 063 Rookey, tagged Basic Form and Nova Stage, with the Aniilog description about a creature that is timid despite its size but finds courage when protecting friends. That card is your confirmation that the registration went through.
| Stat | Value | Stat |
|---|---|---|
| HP | 100 | P.DEF 100 |
| ATK | 90 | M.DEF 70 |
| BREAK | 105 | REGEN 75 |
Once it is in your party, Rookey brings Detection as its mobility skill, which reveals metal objects and cloaked Aniimo nearby, and it works at Dark and Carry jobs at level 3 in Homeland. Its Guardbreak Smash costs 15 EP for 45 power on a 1-second cooldown, allowing up to three consecutive smashes with a 1-second stun on the third — a fast way to build BREAK on anything you want to catch next.
