Thornblade (Towerwood Form) is the Rosetower Woods variant of Aniimo’s No. 034 Grass-type DPS, and it is one of the few forms you can either catch outright or build yourself from a Budsquire. Both routes end in the same place on the map, so the real question is whether you want to spend catch items or spend levels.

Quick answer: Thornblade (Towerwood Form) lives only in Rosetower Woods, in Breezy Plains. Catch one there with an Anipod Mega, or evolve a Lv. 27 Budsquire (Towerwood Form) inside the same woods.
Thornblade (Towerwood Form) location in Rosetower Woods
Rosetower Woods sits in the Breezy Plains region and is rated for Lv. 44–51, so wild Thornblades here show up around Lv. 45. That level band is the main gate on this form. Walk in underleveled and the surrounding pack will win the fight before you ever get a throw off.
The reliable patch is the eastern ledge and cliffside stretch of the woods, near the maze section. Open the map, drop a marker on the eastern edge of the Rosetower Woods zone, and sweep the ledge on foot. Multiple Thornblades can be roaming there at once, which makes it a better farming spot than any single-spawn encounter elsewhere.

If your party knocks the Thornblade out before you can throw, fast travel away and advance the time of day to bring it back.
Evolution route: Budsquire (Towerwood Form) to Thornblade
The Towerwood Budsquire shares the same habitat, so you can catch one on the same trip and raise it instead. The evolution is condition-locked, and every requirement below has to be satisfied at once.

- A Budsquire (Towerwood Form) at Lv. 27 or higher
- Clear a Thornblade battle with Budsquire as the party’s sole member.
- Be in Rosetower Woods when you evolve it
- Sprout Stone x1, obtained by defeating Alpha Leafy
The solo-fight condition is the one people miss. Pull every other creature out of the party first, then take a wild Thornblade down with the Budsquire alone. Rosetower Woods is convenient here because the Thornblade you need to beat and the woods you need to stand in are the same place.
Budsquire has a branching line. Meeting a different set of conditions turns it into Melloblum instead, so do not push a Budsquire you are saving for Thornblade down the other path.
Thornblade (Towerwood Form) stats, trait, and skills
| Stat | Value | Stat | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| HP | 96 | P.DEF | 74 |
| ATK | 121 | M.DEF | 73 |
| BREAK | 53 | REGEN | 92 |
| Element | Grass | Total | 509 |
It stands 1.6m tall and weighs 6kg, with a Grass element level of 3 and a Homeland ability set covering Grass and Artisanship. As a Grass-type it takes 1.6x damage from fire, wind, and dark, and reduces grass, rock, and water damage to 0.625x.

Its trait is Sword Dance. Every skill you use grants one stack, up to four, lasting 15 seconds, and each basic attack spends a stack to deal 180% extra damage. That makes the pattern simple: fire skills to stack, then cash the stacks out with normal attacks.
| Skill | EP cost | Power |
|---|---|---|
| Thorny Defense | 20 | 75 |
| Aqua Defense | 20 | 75 |
| Thorny Impact | 20 | 57 |
| Lightning Impact | 20 | 57 |
| Thorny Rain | 10 | 30 |
| Elegant Waltz (Ultimate) | — | 172 |
Thorny Impact and Lightning Impact are both dashes that add 15% Crit Rate for 15 seconds on hit. Thorny Defense cuts incoming damage by 20% and counters when struck, and landing the stance on the exact frame of an attack raises Crit Rate by 30% for 15 seconds. Aqua Defense trades that crit spike for a 12-second Lockdown on the attacker.
How to confirm you have the Towerwood form
Open the Aniilog and check entry No. 034. A successful catch or evolution registers the Towerwood Form specifically, and the entry shows the Homeland numbers for that form, including Habitability 100 and Bud ticket production of 120 per day. Registering it for the first time pays out Growth Flower x2, and filing a report on it returns 100 Credits.
Once it is logged, the form is locked in and can be swapped through the Change Form menu on that Aniimo. If you are not fielding it, park it in the Homeland to plant seeds, gather, or produce handcrafted goods while you go back for a second one.
