Legacy Points are the currency that powers the Legacy system in World of Warcraft: Forever, an account-wide progression layer that hands out perks for playing across classes, professions, and content types. You earn them by completing Legacy Challenges, which behave much like achievements. Each qualifying challenge awards one Legacy Point, and those points unlock for your whole account.
Quick answer: Complete Legacy Challenges spread across six categories — Classes, Tradeskills, Dungeons, Raids, Adventure, and Player vs. Player. Each completion grants one Legacy Point to your account, which every character can then spend independently.
How Legacy Points are earned and spent

Class leveling challenges
Leveling any class to a milestone for the first time awards a point. Every one of the nine classes has three tiers at levels 25, 45, and 60, so a full sweep across all classes is worth a large chunk of the earnable pool.

Profession skill challenges
Crafting professions award points at three skill milestones. Reaching each threshold for the first time on any character grants a point, giving gatherers and crafters a way to progress Legacy without focusing on combat.

Dungeon and raid challenges
Dungeon progress is tracked through the Spelunker challenges, which reward clearing groups of dungeons rather than grinding a single one. There are three tiers.
- Novice Spelunker — complete the required set of early dungeons
- Experienced Spelunker — complete the required mid-tier dungeons
- Master Spelunker — complete the required high-tier dungeons
Raiding contributes through three encounter challenges, each worth one point when you clear the listed bosses.

Exploration and questline challenges
Filling in the map awards points at several stages, all completed on a single character. Exploring both continents also unlocks a follow-up account challenge.
- Explore Eastern Kingdoms — complete every zone map across Eastern Kingdoms
- Explore Kalimdor — complete every zone map across Kalimdor
- Explore Azeroth — finish all existing zones on both continents on one character
- Explorer — select a character that has earned the Explore Azeroth achievement
Questlines can pay out as well. Lord Valthalak Laid to Rest awards a point for completing the chain that starts with An Earnest Proposition and ends with Saving the Best for Last.
PvP challenges
Player vs. Player has its own set of point-awarding goals. Climbing the Honor System ranks is the main source, with milestones tied to specific rank titles from Private or Scout at the bottom up to Grand Marshal or High Warlord at the top.
Two other PvP routes contribute points:
- Field of Honor — clear the Week 4, Week 7, and Week 10 milestones in the Field of Honor Journey
- Battleground reputation — reach exalted with the faction pairing for each battleground
The reputation challenges cover Alterac Valley (Frostwolf Clan or Stormpike Guard), Arathi Basin (Defilers or League of Arathor), Warsong Gulch (Warsong Outriders or Silverwing Sentinels), and Darkspear Islands (Darkspear Raiders or Theramore Expeditionary Force).
Legacy Reward Track milestones
Because your account can earn far more than the 16-point spending cap, surplus points still matter. Your lifetime total advances the Legacy Reward Track, which hands out cosmetic and prestige items at set thresholds.

Confirming a point was awarded
When you complete a qualifying challenge, the matching Legacy Challenge marks as complete and the point is added to your account pool. Open the Legacy Tree on any character and you will see the newly available point ready to spend, up to the 16-point cap per character.
Legacy remains a launch-window system tied to World of Warcraft: Forever’s release, and the challenge list is expected to grow with more perks, higher caps, and new trees after the game goes live.
