The Western Watch is a short travel quest in the Shen’dar Highlands, the Skyborne region of World of Warcraft. There is nothing to kill and nothing to loot along the way. The whole thing is a road trip to a watchtower on the western edge of the map, followed by a conversation with a badly wounded peacekeeper who is waiting for you at the end of it.
Quick answer: Follow the road south of Shen’dar Village and west of Fallath Village to the West Pylon Watchtower. Reaching the stone pillars completes the objective; turn in to Peacekeeper Vaaniel on the road.

Where the Western Watchtower is on the Shen’dar Highlands map
Open your map before you set off. The Shen’dar Highlands is a wide region and the watchtower sits out toward the western side, away from the main settlements, so it is easy to overshoot if you just run in a straight line.
The route itself is simple to describe. You want the stretch of road that runs south of Shen’dar Village and west of Fallath Village, heading toward the West Pylon Watchtower. Zoom in on that corner of the map and the cobblestone path is clearly marked.
How to complete the check-in objective
Turning in to Peacekeeper Vaaniel
Peacekeeper Vaaniel is not standing guard at the tower. He is lying on the ground beside the road, which is why plenty of players jog straight past him and assume the quest is bugged. Look down at the roadside near the pillars and interact with him to hand in The Western Watch and collect your experience.
If you cannot see him, back off a few steps and scan the ground rather than the tower. He blends into the roadside from a distance.
What comes after The Western Watch
Vaaniel immediately offers the follow-up quest, A Last Request. Accept it before you leave, because he is the only one handing it out and there is no reason to run this road twice.
There is also a Bloody Note lying on the ground near him. It is worth picking up while you are here, since you are already standing on top of it and the area is otherwise a long run from the nearest village.
That closes the loop on a quest that exists mostly to move you from the villages out to the western pylon line. Once A Last Request is in your log, you can carry on from the same patch of road without doubling back.
