Aniimo: How to Get Melloblum in Rosetower Woods

The Flowers and Thorns – Rosetower Wood quest is the only thing standing between you and Melloblum's single spawn point.

Melloblum is not a creature you stumble into while sweeping a field. It sits behind a locked door in Aniimo, with exactly one spawn point in the entire world and a side quest gating it. Walk into the Maze of Thorns before that quest is underway and the courtyard will be empty.

Quick answer: Progress the quest Flowers and Thorns – Rosetower Wood, then catch Melloblum in the flower-filled courtyard at the southeast end of the Maze of Thorns in Rosetower Woods.

Rosetower Woods sits in the Breezy Plains region and is built for level 43–50 players. Melloblum waits deep inside the Maze of Thorns, the large stone ruin at the southern end of the map. The one chamber that matters is the open courtyard covered in white flowers at the southeast end of the maze, guarded by a First Lethal Thorn around Lv. 45.

The in-game entry spells the condition out plainly. Melloblum appears deep in the Maze of Thorns after you learn the secret of its Dance of Blissful Blooms, and it respawns whenever you push the related quest forward.

Unlock the spawn with Flowers and Thorns – Rosetower Wood

The quest starts near the tower in the northern part of Rosetower Woods and ends with an audience with Melloblum itself. The guard at the maze will not let a stranger through, so the whole thing hinges on showing up as one of its own kind.

Catch and twine with a Towerwood Budsquire in Rosetower Woods. You need to be riding the Towerwood form when you approach the maze, otherwise the conversation goes nowhere.
Enter the Maze of Thorns at its southern edge, then follow the stone corridors. Instead of walking the entire route, fly across the ruins and descend into the passageways.

Talk to the First Lethal Thorn blocking the way in. It tells you that you are not on the guest list for the tea party, which is your cue to challenge it.

Duel the guard and win. Beating it is what earns you an audience with the princess beyond the corridor.

Speak to Melloblum in the courtyard and pick the Twine with Thornblade dialogue option. Flowers and Thorns – Rosetower Wood is added to your quest log at this point, and you can set it to tracked from the quest menu.

Follow the quest marker, gather what it asks for, then return to Melloblum and report back. Once the quest has moved forward, Melloblum becomes a catchable spawn in that same chamber.

There is only one Melloblum in the world, but it keeps respawning in the chamber where you met it every time you progress the quest, so a failed catch is not the end of the run.

Catching Melloblum: rates and Aniipods

Melloblum has a base catch rate of 28% at full HP with a standard Aniipod. Better pods multiply that number, and the throw itself gets easier once you have knocked its HP down, broken it, or lined up a shot from behind.

AniipodMultiplierChance at full HP
Aniipod×128%
Aniipod Pro×1.542%
Aniipod Hyper×256%
Aniipod Mega×256%
Aniipod UltraGuaranteed100%
Sparkling CubeGuaranteed100%

Melloblum is a Grass Support, so it takes 1.6× damage from Fire, Wind and Dark and shrugs off Water, Grass and Earth at 0.625×. Bring one of the three attacking elements if you want its health down quickly, and expect the First Lethal Thorn nearby to join in. The Sparkling variant rolls at roughly 1 in 20,000 encounters, which is not something to chase deliberately.

How to confirm the catch worked

A successful throw pops the Aniilog entry for No. 035 Melloblum, listed as the Basic Form at the Nova Stage with the Support role. If the entry appears, it is in your collection and can be added to a team or assigned to Homeland work, where it handles Grass and Artisanship jobs at Lv. 3.

The evolution route: Budsquire to Melloblum

If you would rather grow one than catch one, Melloblum is the end of the Budsquire line. The evolution path has to be unlocked first by completing Journey: Flowers and Thorns, and then every condition below has to line up.

Budsquire
Budsquire. Image: Pawprint Studio
  • A Budsquire at Lv. 27 or higher
  • A personality that contains Faithful
  • Sprout Stone ×3
  • Stamen of Cubbo’s Rose ×1

Budsquire can also evolve into Thornblade, so check the personality requirement before you spend materials.

Prismana Melloblum and the Vein Abundance event

Prismana Melloblum (No. S1B) is the second form and cannot be evolved into. This Season 1 Prismana can only be caught when the Vein Abundance event rotates it in; that rotation lasts through October 18, 2026, followed by an October 19 through 25 extension in which it shares the slot with the other Season 1 Prismana.

It appears in the same place under the same rules, deep within the Maze of Thorns, refreshing as you progress Flowers and Thorns. The Prismana form is Grass and Light rather than pure Grass, which changes its weaknesses to Wind at 1.6× and Dark at a punishing 2.56×.

Both forms share the same base statline of 517, and both keep the Phantom Opening trait that shaves EP cost as your party lands basic attacks. Once the quest has been pushed past that first conversation, the courtyard stays open, and Melloblum stops being a one-shot opportunity and becomes a spawn you can return to whenever a throw goes wrong.
