The Legend of Helmuts and Helgons is the Russet Highlands chapter of Aniimo’s Journey tab, and it is really three linked runs stitched together. You pull a sword out of a stone for a painter, you get flown to an island by a scarred dragon, and you end up handing a flower to a perfumer in Bloomville. The whole thing hinges on one mechanic: being disguised as a Helmut when it matters.
Quick answer: Start from Clue: The Painter of the Russet Highlands, catch a Helmut, pull the Sword of Bravery at Twister Peaks, beat the Level 50 Infergon, then finish the island and perfume follow-ups.
Before you start: Russet Highlands requirements
Russet Highlands sits in the Breezy Plains at levels 45 to 50, and the chapter’s boss is tuned to the top of that band. Come in underlevelled and the Infergon fight will stall you for a long time.

Access to Russet Highlands and its Twister Peaks Waypoint.
A battle team around Level 50 — Pawney, Hexxin and Lunara clear it comfortably.
Spare Anipods, since you have to catch a Helmut twice across the chapter.
Twining, the mechanic that lets you take direct control of one of your Aniimo.
Clues and rumors that open the chapter
Nothing here drops into your journal on its own. Each stage begins as a Clue or Rumor entry, and you have to open the Log and select it before the map will point anywhere.
Open the Log, switch to the Journey tab and select Clue: The Painter of the Russet Highlands. Track Sorora on the map and talk to her. Her dialogue unlocks the quest named Warrior.
Follow the new marker to the wild Helmut pack nearby. Weaken one and throw an Anipod to catch it. You cannot progress a single further step without a Helmut of your own.
Go back to the ruin steps and Twine into your Helmut before approaching. In Helmut form you can understand Helmspeak, so Weeping Helmut’s dialogue finally makes sense — then it runs off.
Stay Twined and climb the snowy mountain trail. Hiding Helmut is tucked between the rocks along the path, and hearing it out is what marks the clue-gathering step complete.
Take the stairs to the summit and Twine with Helmut again to smash the Dragonclaw Stone. Pull the Sword of Bravery free and your Helmut evolves into Pawney on the spot.
The Level 50 Infergon attacks immediately. Fight it with the newly evolved Pawney alongside Hexxin and Lunara until it goes down — this is the longest single stretch of the chapter.
With Infergon beaten, interact with the shattered stone structure to pick up the Flame Flower. Open the treasure chest beside it too — it holds Starcrystal Essence.
Warrior is a longer Journey quest than its Russet Highlands section suggests. Its earlier steps run through Beast Fang Ridge and the Inferlupa, so the payout above covers the whole quest rather than just the Twister Peaks climb.
Head to the northern coast of Russet Highlands and catch a Helmut there. The disguise is the ticket across the water, so do this before approaching the dragon.
Past the gates you reach the ancient dragon mural. Look at it, then talk to Scar-faced Helgon to wrap up this half of the island story.
Dragon Legends II: Nightfall Tales at the campfire
This one is gated by time of day rather than by combat. Scar-faced Helgon walks over to a stone seat and waits, and nothing happens until the sun goes down.
Walk to the campfire seating circle on the island beach and interact with it. The Late-Night Talk of Helmuts and Helgons cutscene plays and completes Island Adventure: Nightfall Tales.
Eternal Red: Delivering the Flame Flower in Bloomville
The Flame Flower you pulled from the Stormy Summit is not just a trophy. It crystallizes the red of the Breezy Plains, and a perfumer turns it into the legendary scent Eternal Red.
Travel to Bloomville and hand the Flame Flower Root to Grace. She is the first of two deliveries, and the second will not appear until this one is done.
Take the Burst of Red and the Flame Flower to Cress out in the flower field. Handing both over finishes A Fragrant Journey: Russet Highlands.
Eternal Red is the perfume the Colorless Dream: Tornado asks for later on Tideblossom Coast, so this delivery feeds directly into the Fragrant Dream chapter.
How to confirm the chapter is finished
There are three separate confirmations, and each one lands in a different place.
Warrior is complete when Sorora’s dialogue at the easel ends and the Sword of Bravery appears under the Story Item tab as a rare curio.
The island run ends once the Late-Night Talk cutscene featuring Helmuts and Helgons plays, and Island Adventure: Nightfall Tales is marked finished.
The perfume run is complete once Cress accepts both the Burst of Red and the Flame Flower in the Bloomville flower field.
Clearing the Sword of Bravery also matters well after the credits roll on this chapter. A Mountain Woods Helmut can evolve into Mountain Woods Pawney from Level 45, and that branch specifically requires the Sword of Bravery quest to be done. If you are chasing that form, this is the prerequisite you cannot skip — and the Russet Highlands hidden scene that produces a Mountain Woods Helmut in the first place is a separate hunt entirely.
