The Stolen Experiment Vault in Steal An Egg needs five parts before it opens, and the game only tells you half the story. Two are Lost Parts sitting out in the open world and never despawn. The other three are Drone Parts that fall from Dr. Scramble’s drones, which is where the grind actually lives.
Quick answer: Talk to the Escaped Experiment in the Abyss Ocean cave first, then collect one Lost Part in the Prehistoric biome and one inside the Volcano. The remaining three drop from drones.
Start the vault quest at the Escaped Experiment in Abyss Ocean
Nothing counts until the quest is logged. Destroying drones or running past the biome pickups before you have spoken to the NPC awards you nothing, so do this first in any server you plan to farm in.
Do not hang around in the lab once the counters appear. The room is only an entry point, and waiting inside while a drone wave is live burns time you cannot get back.

The two biome pickups are labelled Lost Part 1 and Lost Part 2 based on the order you collect them, so it does not matter which biome you clear first. All that matters is the counter reaching 2/2.
Lost Part locations in the biomes
Both static parts sit next to the Abyss Ocean, so you can round-trip them quickly. Neither requires combat, a tool, or a boss fight, and neither disappears if you leave them for later.
Prehistoric biome Lost Part (by the T-Rex)
Run into the Prehistoric zone and make for the large sleeping dinosaur. The part is tucked in around the T-Rex’s head and the green blocks beside it, close to the grass patch by the biome’s Guardian. Hop across the green platforming blocks and walk directly into the item mesh to pick it up.
Volcano biome Lost Part (inside the volcano)
Take the path over to the Volcano biome and go into the small volcano structure rather than circling its outside. The part rests against the interior wall, and you reach it by hopping up the dark stepped blocks until the Lost Vault Part Collect [E] prompt appears. Do not try to jump the sheer faces; use the stepped ledges on the rising side.
If a drone wave starts while you are partway up the volcano, drop down and go fight. The static part stays put indefinitely, but drone uptime does not.
Drone Parts: farming Dr. Scramble’s drones
Dr. Scramble left three types of floating, round drones scattered around the map, and they spawn near the eggs across the different biomes. A fresh batch appears roughly every 30 minutes, tied to the wider Dr. Scramble event cycle that runs on the hour, so check the map whenever a wave lands.
- Each drone has 5 HP, so they die fast once you can land hits.
- Every kill drops Samples, the event currency spent at Dr. Scramble’s Experiments.
- Whether a drone also drops a vault part is random, so expect to clear several waves.
- Drops do not auto-collect. Run over the canister on the ground after the drone breaks apart.
Prioritise open, high-traffic areas like the main hub and plains where drones cluster, and stay there until the tracker reads Drone Parts 3/3. Samples stack up alongside the parts, and they buy the limited Experiment #001 Egg and Experiment #013 Egg, plus boosters and the Mutation Scramble item.
If you are carrying an unbanked rare egg, deliver it before joining a drone fight. Cross-map skirmishes are how runs get stolen.
Verify your parts and claim the Scrambler
Every successful pickup throws a VAULT PART FOUND! banner on screen with the updated tally, so you can confirm each one the moment you grab it. If the banner does not appear when you walk over a pickup, the quest is not logged and you need to return to the Escaped Experiment.
With five parts in hand, swim back to the Abyss Ocean cave and open the Stolen Experiment Vault window again. It should read Lost Parts 2/2 and Drone Parts 3/3 with a green Claim button underneath. Press it and the vault hands over the Scrambler.
There is a second hidden room reached through the vent in the upper wall near the NPC, but it holds lore monitors rather than vault parts. Clear the quest before poking around in there.
