Squarrel is the fist-tailed Fire Aniimo sitting at No. 047 in the Aniilog, and it is a single-region catch. Every wild spawn sits inside Blitzwood, in the southern stretch of Breezy Plains, so the whole job comes down to picking the right waypoint and walking a short distance.

Quick answer: Teleport to the Bloom waypoint in Blitzwood, run south down the grassy hills toward roughly -0638, 0958, and throw an Aniipod at one of the rolling Squarrels.

Squarrel location in Blitzwood

Blitzwood is a Lv. 41-49 zone in Breezy Plains, and it is the only place Squarrel appears. There are 13 placed spawn points in the current build, clustered toward the eastern and southern edges of the region. Open the map, pick Blitzwood, then select Squarrel (Basic Form) from the Aniimo list to paint yellow habitat squares over the area.

Level scales with where you stand. The Squarrels grazing the southern hills come in at Lv. 49, while spawns further into the region can appear in the low 40s. Bring a partner that can survive a fight at that level even if you plan to catch rather than battle.

Fastest route from the Bloom waypoint

Open the map, switch to the Blitzwood region, and select the Bloom waypoint. It is one of the vein-energy spots where large numbers of Aniimo gather, which is why the density here is so good.
Teleport in and turn south. Follow the open grassy slopes downhill rather than cutting through the trees, and keep your eyes on the ground ahead.

Stop around coordinates -0638, 0958, at the southern end of Blitzwood. Several Squarrels roll around on the slopes here at once, so if you scare one off or fail a throw, another is usually a few seconds away.

A successful throw plays the catch confirmation and files Squarrel as No. 047 in your Aniilog. If the entry is still greyed out afterwards, the throw did not land.

Squarrel catch rate by Aniipod

With Squarrel at maximum HP, a regular Aniipod starts with a 56% capture chance. Better pods raise that percentage, and the shown rates apply when the target is undamaged.

AniipodMultiplierChance at full HP
Aniipod×156%
Legendary Aniipod×156%
Aniipod Pro×1.584%
Aniipod Hyper×2100%
Aniipod Mega×2100%
Aniipod Track×2100%
Aniipod UltraGuaranteed100%

Your odds improve once the target is weakened. Damage its HP, break it, and attack from behind to increase the chance, making a standard Aniipod sufficient if you fight it first.

Squarrel takes 1.6× damage from Water and Earth, so a Water or Earth partner strips its health quickly before the throw.

Sparkling Squarrel odds

Roughly 1 in 20,000 wild encounters rolls Sparkling, the rainbow-sheen mutation every species can produce. It is purely cosmetic and does not change stats. If you would rather not grind the spawn cluster for it, there are two shortcuts.

  • A Sparkling Cube guarantees the catch and guarantees it is Sparkling, with Acquired Potential of at least Elite. You exchange 1,000 Sparkling Crystals for one at outpost vendors.
  • Sparkling Sigils transform an Aniimo you already own into a random Sparkling variant. You earn them by reporting Sparkling Aniimo after catching one.

Squarrel stats, element matchups and trait

Squarrel is a Fire Aniimo at the Lumin stage filling the Break role. It is a small Beast, 0.8m tall and 6kg, with Climb Lv. 1 for pathfinding.

ATK80
BREAK94

BREAK at 94 is the only standout, landing in the 83rd percentile across ranked forms, while 53 HP makes it fragile. Squarrel resists Fire, Grass and Ice at 0.625×, and is weak to Water and Earth at 1.6×.

Once you use a skill, Raging Fire empowers the next basic attack made within 10 seconds. That attack skips to the chain’s final hit immediately, with Might increasing from 4 to 25.

Squarrel skills and the Pinecone mark

Squarrel’s combat skills are meant to work together. Pinecone Bomb uses 15 EP and has 38 power, hurling a flaming pinecone that explodes on contact before sending three additional fragments in every direction. Anything struck receives the [Pinecone] mark.

Heavy Tail Strike provides the payoff. It uses 20 EP, has 40 power, and carries a 12-second cooldown. When it hits a marked target, the mark is consumed, damage increases by 50%, and the target is launched and stunned for 2.5 seconds. The basic attack is a close-range Fire strike with 6 power.

Evolving Squarrel into Squashel

Squarrel evolves into Squashel, No. 048, once it reaches Lv. 47 and you spend a Wave Stone. Squashel keeps the same Pinecone loop and the Raging Fire trait, but jumps to a 548 stat total with 110 HP and 108 BREAK, adds Blazing Fist Barrage and the Blazing Rush finisher, and upgrades pathfinding to Climb Lv. 2.

If you are not evolving it, Squarrel still earns its keep at home. It works Fire Lv. 1 and Artisanship Lv. 1 jobs, covering the Simmering Pot, Blazing Stove, Chimney Kiln, Claw Game Cooker and Woodworking Bench.
