The Sword of Bravery sits wedged in a rock at the center of a misty arena in the Russet Highlands, and pulling it out is the exact requirement Aniimo lists for turning Helmut into Pawney. Walking up and mashing the interact button does nothing on its own. The sword only comes loose as part of a quest, and finishing that quest is what flips the evolution on for good.
Quick answer: Progress the Warrior quest under The Legends of Helmuts and Helgons, twine with a Helmut, break the stone over the sword, then pick the brave dialogue option at every prompt to pull it out and evolve Pawney.

What you need before pulling the Sword of Bravery
The whole sequence hinges on having the right creature and the right quest active. Line these up first so nothing stalls halfway up the mountain.
- A Helmut in your party, a Dark-element creature with the Break role. Catch one in the area between the Russet Highlands and Berylline Causeway if you don’t have it yet.
- The Warrior quest active under The Legends of Helmuts and Helgons in your journal.
- Access to the Russet Highlands fast travel points, including Rainbow Woods and Twister Peaks.
- A team strong enough to clear a Level 50 fire boss at the end of the quest.
Do not confuse this with the separate Warrior Quest in Beast Fang Ridge. The one you want is filed under The Legends of Helmuts and Helgons in the Russet Highlands.

In the eastern Russet Highlands, a broad circular arena contains one rock formation at its center; the sword lies within that stone near -0156, 1634. Since no other formation is inside the arena, it is easy to identify once you enter. The weekly Omega Infergon boss also appears there.

Reaching the arena early and interacting with the buried hilt only gives a hint about a Russet Highlands legend tied to Infergon and a suggestion that twining with a Helmut may help. To actually free the blade, you have to run the quest.

Pull the Sword of Bravery and evolve Pawney

| Prompt | Brave choice |
|---|---|
| Could Helmut possibly face mighty Infergon? | I have an unyielding heart! |
| Is that brave Helmut still alive? | Brave Helmut? |
| It was sent elsewhere, but I cannot tell whether it returned alive. | It’s totally exhausted. |
| Are you brave enough to free me and take up the life of a warrior? | Pull the sword out. |
Once you choose to pull the sword out, your Helmut transforms into a Pawney, a Nova-stage Dark DPS creature.

Defeat Infergon (Level 50)
The moment Pawney appears, Infergon swoops down in a cutscene, and the boss fight starts.

Infergon is a pure fire-type creature, so it takes extra damage from water-type and rock-type moves. Strong counters include Magmarex, Grizbo, Minespine, Leafy, Sherro, and Erlath. If you do not have a direct counter, Lunara and Helion both hold up in this fight as long as they are an appropriate level.

You know it worked when the painting is restored, Sorora closes out the Warrior objective, and the Helmut-to-Pawney evolution shows as unlocked. From then on, any Helmut you catch can evolve into Pawney with a Night Stone once it reaches the required level, and that includes regional variants such as the Snowfield form.
If the quest stalls after you twine into Helmut, make sure you have actually interacted with the sword. An earlier bug that stuck players at this point has since been fixed.
