The exact route from Stormwind Keep to Mekkatorque, Magni Bronzebeard, and Tyrande Whisperwind, including every ship and tram connection.

The exact route from Stormwind Keep to Mekkatorque, Magni Bronzebeard, and Tyrande Whisperwind, including every ship and tram connection.

Exploring the Alliance is a travel quest, not a combat one. Nothing hits you, nothing needs killing, and the only real obstacle is the amount of Azeroth between you and three faction leaders who refuse to stand in the same city. The route is fixed, though, and once you know which dock and which portal to use, the whole thing is a straight line.

Quick answer: Take the quest from Randal Emerson in Stormwind Keep, ride the Deeprun Tram to Ironforge for Mekkatorque and Magni Bronzebeard, then sail from Stormwind Harbor to Darnassus for Tyrande Whisperwind.

The three leaders you need to speak to

The quest gives you three separate conversation objectives. There is no set order enforced by the game, but grouping the two Ironforge leaders together saves a full ocean crossing.

LeaderTitleWhere to find them
High Tinker MekkatorqueKing of GnomesTinker Town, Ironforge
King Magni BronzebeardLord of IronforgeThe High Seat, Ironforge
Tyrande WhisperwindHigh Priestess of EluneTemple of the Moon, Darnassus

Pick up the quest from Randal Emerson in Stormwind Keep

Head into Stormwind Keep and walk through the main hall, past King Anduin Wrynn and Highlord Bolvar Fordragon. Your quest giver is not in the throne room itself. Turn into the side room off the hall and speak with Randal Emerson, the Royal Advisor. Accepting from him populates all three leader objectives in your quest log at once.

Ironforge route: Deeprun Tram to Mekkatorque and Magni Bronzebeard

Leave the keep and cross Stormwind to the Dwarven District. In the north-east corner of the district you will find the large cog-lined entrance that drops down to the Deeprun Tram platform.

Wait on the platform for the tram carriage, step aboard, and ride it under the sea to Ironforge. You cannot fall off or miss the stop, so this leg is entirely hands-off.
The tram deposits you directly in Tinker Town. High Tinker Mekkatorque is standing on his raised mechanical platform a short walk from the station. Talk to him to clear the first objective.

From Tinker Town, run west through The Military Ward and follow the Great Forge corridor around toward The High Seat. Ironforge is a ring, so either direction eventually gets you there, but this side is the shorter one.

Walk up to the throne in The High Seat and speak with King Magni Bronzebeard. That completes the second objective and leaves only the night elf capital.

Darnassus route: ships from Stormwind Harbor to Tyrande Whisperwind

This is the long half. Getting to Darnassus means two separate boat rides and one portal, and each hop only has one correct departure point.

Ride the tram back to Stormwind and make your way to Stormwind Harbor. Board the ship at the southernmost dock, which is the one sailing toward Teldrassil. Taking the wrong berth sends you somewhere else entirely, so check the dock before the gangplank retracts.
The ship puts you ashore at the Auberdine docks in Darkshore. Do not run off into the zone. Cross along the pier to the connecting vessel and board that one for the leg to Teldrassil.

You disembark at Rut’theran Village at the base of Teldrassil. Follow the path up from the docks to the glowing portal and step through it to enter Darnassus.
Head for the Temple of the Moon and take the ramps up to the upper level. Tyrande Whisperwind, High Priestess of Elune, is waiting at the top. Speaking to her clears the third and final objective.

Grab the flight paths at Auberdine and Rut’theran Village while you are passing through. You will be making this crossing again on almost any night elf-facing content.

How to confirm the quest is finished

Each leader conversation ticks its own line in the quest log the moment the dialogue opens, so you can verify progress after every stop rather than waiting until the end. Once Tyrande’s line checks off, all three objectives read as complete and the quest is ready to hand in. If an objective still shows as incomplete, you spoke to the wrong NPC or closed the window before the dialogue registered, and simply talking to that leader again will fix it.

Total travel time depends almost entirely on tram and boat timers, which are the only parts of the route you cannot speed up. Plan the Ironforge pair as one trip and the Darnassus run as another, and Exploring the Alliance becomes a single uninterrupted loop rather than a series of back-and-forth detours.
