The Flashlight is a permanent tool in Silent Hill: Townfall that lights up dark rooms, exposes hidden collectibles, and reveals clues you would otherwise walk straight past. It comes in two parts, both stored inside Zoe’s House. You collect the housing and the batteries separately, then join them in your inventory before the light works.

Quick answer: Grab the Flashlight (No Batteries) from the kitchen drawer beside the washing machine, take the AA Batteries from the upstairs bedroom drawer, then combine them in your inventory to equip a working Flashlight.

Reach Zoe’s House first

Both flashlight parts sit inside the same building, so head there before searching for anything else. After you escape the Otherworld and arrive back at the town square, look for Zoe’s House opposite the “2” marker on your map, to the west of the square. The front door is already unlocked, so you can walk straight in.

Collect the Flashlight in the kitchen

Walk into the kitchen on the ground floor. Look for the drawers next to the washing machine, near the organ transport container.
Open the drawer to pick up the Flashlight (No Batteries). It cannot be used yet, so your next stop is upstairs for a power source.

Get the AA Batteries upstairs

Head upstairs and enter the bedroom on the left. Inside, find the small cabinet or bedside table with a wooden drawer.
Open the drawer to take the AA Batteries. With both parts in hand, you can assemble the light.

Combine the parts and turn on the light

In the inventory, go to Key Items, select the AA Batteries, and press X/A.
Choose Combine, then select the Flashlight (No Batteries). The two items merge into a working Flashlight that appears under Equipment.

Once combined, press R3 at any time to switch the Flashlight on or off. You know it worked when the light appears in your Equipment and toggles in the game world.

What the Flashlight does for the rest of the game

The Flashlight stays with you permanently. You never have to hunt for spare batteries later, so once it is assembled the tool is set for the whole playthrough.

On most difficulty settings, enemies cannot detect the beam, so you can light your way freely. The one exception is Nightmare difficulty, where switching the Flashlight on can give away your position to nearby enemies.

Use the beam right away to sweep dim corners of Zoe’s House. It reveals clues like the CEG Electricard Credit Guide tucked inside the storage space under the stairs.

That same lit environment leads into the next steps of the chapter, including reading Zoe’s emails on the upstairs computer once power is restored.
