Fenrier is the Gamma stage of the Bonesky line, an Ice element DPS that fights with an ice blade and stacks a freezing debuff on whatever it hits. There are two ways to add one to your roster, and neither of them is gated behind a story beat or a limited event.

Quick answer: Catch a wild Fenrier in Beast Fang Ridge or Driftwise Meadow, or evolve a Bonesky at Lv. 24. Wild catch chance sits at 38 percent before any bonuses.

Fenrier spawn locations in Idyll

Fenrier lives in two habitats, and they are not equivalent. Beast Fang Ridge is the one you want for volume, with far more spawn points and a much lower level band. Driftwise Meadow holds a small pack of high-level ones that is better left alone until your team can handle them.

Open the world map and look at the habitat grid icons around Beast Fang Ridge, just east of Breezy Plains. The icons mark where the basic form actually circulates, so you can pick a landing spot before you travel instead of sweeping the whole region on foot.

The densest cluster is in the northern part of Beast Fang Ridge. Glide in from above so you can see the whole basin at once, since the pack moves between the rocky outcrops and the open grass rather than standing still.

Once you land, look for the grey wolves patrolling near the boulders. They usually appear in small groups, so a single successful landing normally gives you several attempts without having to reload the area.

If the surface pack is thin, walk to the cliff edge and look into the trench below. More Fenrier spawn down in the ravine, and they are easy to miss from ground level.

How to catch a wild Fenrier

Fenrier is a standard wild catch with a base success rate of 38 percent, so plan on multiple throws per animal. Two multipliers stack on top of that base number, and both are worth setting up before you commit.

  • Breaking the target first multiplies the catch rate by 1.5.
  • Throwing from behind the target multiplies the catch rate by 1.5.
  • Fenrier sleeps at night, which makes backstabs far easier to line up.
  • The Sparkling variant appears at a base rate of 1 in 20,000.
Travel to northern Beast Fang Ridge and approach a single Fenrier rather than the middle of a group. Wolves that notice you will close the distance quickly, and fighting three at once wastes healing items you would rather keep.
Build up the break gauge with a Break-role Aniimo until the target staggers. A broken Fenrier stays vulnerable long enough for you to reposition, and the 1.5x bonus applies while it is down.
Circle around to its back and throw. Both bonuses apply at the same time, so a broken target hit from behind is dramatically more likely to stick than a straight frontal attempt.
Repeat on the ravine spawns below the cliff if the surface group thins out. If you want a specific personality, the nature roll is fixed at 50 percent Cheerful, 30 percent Gentle, and 20 percent Aloof, so catching several is the only way to shop for one.

Getting Fenrier by evolving Bonesky

The alternative route skips the ridge entirely. Fenrier is the middle link in a three-stage line, and the only requirement to reach it is a level threshold. No stones or items are needed for this particular step.

Raising a Bonesky is often the faster option if you are already sitting below the wild level band, because a caught Lv 30 Fenrier arrives without the affection and training you would have built up along the way.

Nighttime Fenrier is a separate catch

The dark grey variant listed as No. 43B is not a recolor you can convert. Nighttime Fenrier is a Dark and Ice dual type with its own entry, and it only appears on a ridge inside Rosetower Woods while it is nighttime in-game.

You can also raise one instead. Evolving a Nighttime Bonesky at Lv. 24 produces it, but the game checks the clock as well as the level, so the evolution has to be performed at night.

Fenrier stats, trait, and skills

Fenrier is a melee DPS with a low HP pool and a total attribute spread of 453. Its field ability is Hustle, which burns stamina to move faster, and its Homeland abilities are Carry Lv. 2 and Ice Lv. 2.

Everything Fenrier does revolves around its trait, Biting Wind. When it damages a target carrying more than five stacks of Ice Debuff, that instance of damage gains 15 percent Crit Rate, which is why the order you press skills in matters more than usual.

Ice StrikesIce2055
Night SlashDark2055
Boomerang BladeIce2039

Ice Strikes is the opener. It lunges forward and spins up a magic field that fires three ice blades across three hits, applying five stacks of Ice Debuff in one go, which puts you right at the edge of the trait’s threshold.

Boomerang Blade pushes you over the line. The thrown blade keeps adding Ice Debuff stacks while it spins, though it drains energy the whole time, and a second press of the skill button recalls it.

Night Slash is the control tool rather than a damage filler. Three shadow blades silence the target for four seconds, and it runs on a 15 second cooldown, so save it for whatever is about to cast something you do not want to eat.

Confirming the catch worked

A successful catch drops Fenrier into your roster and fills in Aniilog entry No. 43A, listed between Nighttime Bonesky and Nighttime Fenrier. If the log slot is still blank, the throw did not land, and the same animal can be attempted again.

From there the line continues at Lv. 34, when Fenrier can evolve into Glynsera. If you plan to take that step with the Nighttime form, remember the clock check applies there too.
