Undercity sits beneath the wrecked capital of Lordaeron in Tirisfal Glades, on the northern coast of the Eastern Kingdoms. Orgrimmar is in Durotar, on Kalimdor. The hop between them is short in both directions, but the method changed at some point in Retail, and the version you are playing decides whether you step through a portal or wait for an airship.
Quick answer: For Retail, take the one-way Portal to Undercity on the Orgrimmar zeppelin tower deck. In Classic, use Frezza’s zeppelin from that platform. To return, take Zapetta’s zeppelin near Brill.
Portal to Undercity from Orgrimmar (Retail)
Battle for Azeroth replaced Retail’s former airship route with a permanent portal. You will find it on the zeppelin tower deck, not inside the Pathfinder’s Den portal room; that misplaced expectation is why many players overlook it.

The portal runs one way only. Nothing sends you back from where you land, so set your Hearthstone to a hub you actually use before you leave, or plan on flying out through Tirisfal Glades.

Classic retains the three-location airship circuit linking Orgrimmar, Grom’gol Base Camp, and Undercity. With no portal available, the zeppelin provides the only direct trip, and its tower is positioned outside the city.

Zeppelins stay docked for exactly 60 seconds before departing, so you have time to walk on deck once you see one arrive.
Getting inside Undercity after you land
A successful trip changes your zone to Tirisfal Glades in the Eastern Kingdoms. From the landing point, travel south to the Ruins of Lordaeron gate, the large structure ahead with the city entrances built into it.
What you find past the gate is not the same in both versions, and that affects which door you use.
- Classic: The city is intact and works as the normal Forsaken capital, with trainers, a bank, an auction house, and its own flight master. Walk through the main gate and ride the courtyard elevator down, or use the Sewers entrance to the west.
- Retail: Blight has left the city mostly uninhabitable since the Battle for the Undercity in Battle for Azeroth. Tirisfal Glades returned to Forsaken control after the Fourth War, but the ruins stayed ruined, and patch 9.2.5 removed the courtyard elevator entrance.
For Retail characters, entry is through the Sewers west of the main gate, close to the Scarlet Watchtower. Non-Forsaken characters must use it as well, because Alliance players do not have a separate portal.
Undercity back to Orgrimmar on Zapetta’s zeppelin
In Classic, the journey back remains an airship trip. Retail players may also need this route when their Hearthstone is on cooldown.

The Undercity–Orgrimmar zeppelin keeps a cycle of roughly 3 minutes 59 seconds, so a missed departure is a short wait rather than a long one.

Zidormi and the pre-war version of Undercity
One thing is worth doing once you are standing outside the ruins. Zidormi, a Bronze Dragonflight NPC posted near the Ruins of Lordaeron entrance for Horde players and near the Sewers entrance for Alliance players, can shift your personal phase to the pre-war city.
The option only appears if your character has finished the Battle for Azeroth war campaign through to The Battle for the Undercity. If she has nothing to offer you, that questline is the missing piece.
Whichever version you are on, the trip comes down to one tower on each end. Learn which platform belongs to which destination, keep your Hearthstone somewhere useful, and the Orgrimmar run stops being a detour worth dreading.
