Evomon: How Budflora’s Calyx Seal Counters Mirefish

The grass-type tank uses a single high-power move that doubles its damage against low-health enemies like Mirefish.

The grass-type tank uses a single high-power move that doubles its damage against low-health enemies like Mirefish.

Budflora is a grass-type creature in Evomon built to soak damage and outlast opponents rather than race them down. Its defensive stat spread lets it stay on the field, and its late-unlock move Calyx Seal turns that survivability into a hard counter against enemies that sit below half health, such as Mirefish.

Quick answer: Calyx Seal has 120 base physical power and doubles to an effective 240 when the target is below 50% HP. It unlocks at Level 140, which is exactly why it punishes low-HP enemies like Mirefish.

How Calyx Seal works

Calyx Seal is a physical move with a conditional damage boost. At full strength it hits for 120 power, and that figure doubles whenever the target’s health is under half. The move becomes available only at Level 140, so it is a payoff for taking Budflora deep into its growth.

Why it counters Mirefish

Mirefish tends to hover below half health on purpose, staying low to squeeze the most value out of its healing. Calyx Seal flips that plan against it. The moment Mirefish drops under 50% HP, Calyx Seal’s power doubles to 240, which lets Budflora punch through the recovery window instead of trading into it.

Because Budflora is built to survive, it can afford to wait for the threshold and then land the boosted hit. The combination of a durable tank and a move that scales up on weakened targets is what makes this pairing an effective answer to heal-reliant enemies.

Budflora’s defensive profile

Budflora leans heavily into defense, with high HP and both defensive stats far ahead of its attack values. This is a fully evolved creature with an SSS talent rating and a Hasty nature, giving it the bulk to stay in play while it waits for Calyx Seal’s condition.

These figures are read at Level 79 of a 180 cap, so Budflora still has room to grow before it reaches the Level 140 mark where Calyx Seal unlocks.

Budflora’s full moveset

Outside of Calyx Seal, Budflora carries a mix of low-power utility and support tools that support its stalling role, including a healing ultimate and Synthesis for recovery.

How to confirm the boost is active

You know Calyx Seal’s condition is met when the target’s health bar sits below the halfway point before you use the move. At that point the move applies its doubled power, so the damage you deal to a low-HP Mirefish should land noticeably harder than against a full-health target. If Calyx Seal is missing from Budflora’s move list, the creature has not yet reached Level 140, which is the unlock requirement.
