A Simmering Storm Walkthrough: Turn in the Storm Orb to Rezlak

A Simmering Storm is a low-level Horde quest in Durotar that asks you to recover a strange, crackling orb from the harpies of Drygulch Ravine and carry it to a goblin tinker named Rezlak. The whole task stays inside one zone, so there is no long travel involved once you have the item.

Quick answer: Kill harpies in Drygulch Ravine north of Razor Hill until the Simmering Storm Orb drops, then bring it to Rezlak at his roadside camp north of Razor Hill and click Complete Quest.

The objective item appears in your log as the Simmering Storm Orb, and its inspect text calls it a dull orb with a faint electrical current and a dark mist swirling inside. That description is the hint that the harpies were using it for something, which is why Rezlak wants to see it.

Get the Simmering Storm Orb from harpies in Drygulch Ravine

Head to Drygulch Ravine, the canyon area north of Razor Hill in Durotar. This is where the harpies are grouped.

Kill the harpies until the orb drops. The quest completes at 1/1 Simmering Storm Orb, so a single successful drop is all you need.

Once the orb is in your bags, your quest tracker will switch the objective to “Ready for turn-in.” That is your signal to return to Rezlak.

Turn in the orb to Rezlak north of Razor Hill

Find Rezlak at his small camp beside the road, just north of Razor Hill. The yellow question mark above him and on your minimap marks the turn-in.

Talk to Rezlak <Tinkers’ Union> and select A Simmering Storm from his dialogue. He greets you with, “You’ve got that look in your eye, lad. Did you find it? Did you find the secret to the storm? Tell me you found it!”

Press the Complete Quest button to hand over the orb and claim your reward.

Confirm the quest is complete

After you click Complete Quest, the reward and reputation gains appear and A Simmering Storm leaves your active quest log. You can double-check its completed status with this command:
