Climbing Aniimo are the creatures you assign to scale vertical surfaces during exploration in Idyll. Every climbing companion carries a Climb trait rated from Level 1 to Level 3, and that rating decides how fast your stamina drains while you cling to a cliff. Late-game regions lean heavily on verticality, so the climber you equip has a direct effect on how far you get in a single ascent.

Quick answer: Equip Blazen or one of its variants for climbing, since it comes with Climb Lv. 3 and the slowest stamina drain. Use Celestis early, because it offers both Fly and Climb.

How climb levels change stamina drain

The Climb trait is tied to the species, not to a creature’s combat level, rarity, or Alpha status. A low-level Blazen and a maxed one both climb at the same tier. The number under the portrait tells you everything you need to know about how long it will keep going up a wall.

  • Climb Lv. 1: lowest tier, with heavy stamina consumption and baseline speed. Short climbs only.
  • Climb Lv. 2: intermediate, with moderate stamina retention for medium ascents.
  • Climb Lv. 3: the optimal tier, drastically reducing stamina drain so you can scale steep surfaces for far longer.

Blazen is the top climbing pick

Blazen is the strongest climber in the game, and its Mountain Woods and Prismana forms share the same trait. It gets Climb Lv. 3 from the moment you catch it, so it drains stamina slower than anything else on a wall. On top of that, Blazen carries a mobility skill called High Jump, which launches you upward without spending stamina. Using it to gain height before a long ascent lets you reach ledges that would otherwise leave you stranded halfway.

Celestis is the pick for the opening hours. It is the only early climber that offers both Fly and Climb, even if each sits at Level 1. Blazen is quick and easy to obtain, so treat Celestis as a stopgap that covers two traversal roles until Blazen enters your box.

The three Blazen forms sit above everything else. Squashel and both Bolty forms are serviceable at Climb Lv. 2 if you have not caught a Blazen yet. Squarrel and Celestis round out the list at Level 1, where the stamina cost makes long climbs impractical.

How to equip a climbing Aniimo

Open your Aniimo roster and switch the toggle in the top-right corner from Combat to Explore. This reveals the exploration loadout instead of your battle team.

Choose Climb in the left panel, alongside the other exploration categories, Fly and Swim. The grid then displays all climbers you own, with each character’s Climb level beneath their portrait.

Check the level numbers before committing. A Level 1 climber like Celestis wastes stamina fast, so it is a temporary choice rather than a long-term one.

Find the highest-tier option in the grid, look for the number 3 on the icon, and drag it into the Climb slot on the left. Placing a Level 3 Blazen here gives you the slowest stamina drain available.

You will know the swap worked when the creature appears in the Climb slot on the left sidebar. From then on, cliffs drain stamina at that Aniimo’s tier, and a Level 3 climber lets you keep going up long after a Level 1 companion would have dropped you.
