How to Complete Hidden Enemies in World of Warcraft Classic

Grab a Lieutenant's Insignia from the Burning Blade in Skull Rock and hand it to Thrall in Orgrimmar.

Grab a Lieutenant’s Insignia from the Burning Blade in Skull Rock and hand it to Thrall in Orgrimmar.

Hidden Enemies kicks off a short Horde spy chain that Thrall hands out in Orgrimmar. The first step is simple on paper but stingy in practice: you need a single Lieutenant’s Insignia off the Burning Blade cultists holed up in Skull Rock, a cave sitting just east of the city in Durotar.

Quick answer: Loot one Lieutenant’s Insignia from Burning Blade Fanatics or Apprentices inside Skull Rock, then return it to Thrall in the Valley of Wisdom in Orgrimmar.

Hidden Enemies quest requirements

This is a level 12 Horde quest that you can pick up starting at level 9. Before Thrall will offer it, though, two conditions have to be met: you must be at least level 10, and you must have finished the earlier Report to Orgnil quest. Both the start and the turn-in happen with Thrall in the Valley of Wisdom.

Where to find Skull Rock in Durotar

Skull Rock is a cave in northeastern Durotar, tucked against the coast just east and slightly south of Orgrimmar’s eastern walls. Leave the city through the eastern gate and hug the shoreline until you reach the cave mouth. Open your world map to line up the route before you set off.

Skull Rock also hosts the H [12] Skull Rock quest, so pick that one up first if it is available. You can clear both in the same run instead of returning to the cave twice.

How to get the Lieutenant’s Insignia

Enter Skull Rock and push inward. The cave is packed tightly with enemies and they respawn quickly, so expect to fight almost constantly once you are inside.
Kill the Burning Blade cultists. Both Burning Blade Fanatics and Burning Blade Apprentices can drop the insignia, so clear whatever you can pull safely rather than hunting a single type.

Search each corpse until you find the Lieutenant’s Insignia. Its chance to drop is about 1 in 20, though luck may bring it sooner. The item is unique and cannot stack, so one is enough.

Because of the low drop chance and the dense respawns, bringing a group makes the farm far quicker and safer. With more players, you can hold ground against the constant pulls and roll the drop across more kills per minute.

While you are in here, look for a Burning Blade orc named Gazz’uz. Killing him drops the Eye of Burning Shadow, which starts the separate H [12] Burning Shadows quest.

Turn in Hidden Enemies to Thrall

When the tracker shows “Lieutenant’s Insignia (1/1)” and marks the objective complete, exit Skull Rock and travel west into Orgrimmar. Go to the Valley of Wisdom and speak with Thrall to turn in the insignia.

Completing the quest awards 2 silver 50 copper, roughly 900 experience, and reputation with Orgrimmar. You will know it worked when Thrall accepts the turn-in and the quest clears from your log, at which point he offers the next step in the chain.

From there the story keeps going. Thrall’s follow-up sends you deeper into the Burning Blade plot, eventually pointing you toward the Cleft of Shadow and Ragefire Chasm as the same “Hidden Enemies” name repeats across several quests. Getting that first insignia is the gate to all of it, so a single lucky drop is all that stands between you and the rest of the infiltration.
