Kyber Droids are the centerpiece of the Star Wars: Droid Tycoon update in Fortnite Creative. Each one starts life as a dormant unit you craft from a Kyber blueprint, then bring to Professor Huyang to awaken into a random color, Green, Blue, or Purple. Collecting enough of each color unlocks matching lightsabers and workshop paints.

Quick answer: Craft a Kyber blueprint at a crafting station, equip the inactive droid as a companion, then take it to Professor Huyang’s workbench and pay 1 Kyber Crystal (Common) or 2 Kyber Crystals (Rare) to awaken it.

Start the event and claim your first blueprint

The whole loop begins with Professor Huyang, the Jedi archival droid stationed in the basement tunnel beneath the workshop. Head downstairs and speak to him to trigger the intro. He delivers a starter crate directly to your workshop containing one Kyber Droid blueprint and one Kyber Crystal, which is enough to build and awaken your first unit.

Where Kyber Droid blueprints come from

After the starter crate, you supply your own blueprints through four routes. Each one feeds the same crafting station, so you can mix them freely depending on how many Credits or V-Bucks you want to spend.

  • Kyber blueprints spawn naturally on the conveyor belt and are bought with Credits.
  • Activating a Kyber Surge with V-Bucks floods the belt with Kyber blueprints quickly.
  • Upgrade chips convert existing standard droids into Kyber versions.
  • Combine three droids of Stellar tier at the fusion table to create a Kyber unit.

Belt prices scale with rarity. A Common blueprint is cheap, while a Rare like the R9 costs several million Credits. These are the sample costs seen on the belt:

BlueprintRarityBelt cost
CBKyber Common72,000 CR
GonkKyber Common108K CR
ID10Kyber Common144,000 CR
R9Kyber Rare4,320,000 CR

The Kyber Surge is paid, but it spawns several blueprints at once (Gonk, R8, BDX Explorer, ID10, and B1 Security in one run), which is the fastest way to line up multiple crafts back to back.

Craft the dormant droid

Set a Kyber blueprint on an available crafting station to begin building that particular droid model.

Speed up the craft by hitting critical strikes with your pickaxe or by using worker droid speed perks. The bar fills faster the more crits you land.
Wait for the “Droid Complete!” message. The finished unit appears in an inactive, dormant state and still needs to be awakened before it counts.

Get Kyber Crystals for activation

Awakening a droid costs Kyber Crystals (or V-Bucks). Beyond the single crystal from the starter crate, there are two reliable ways to keep a supply coming.

  • Complete World Missions such as “Mine Rocks.” The reward crate can hold 10 Kyber Crystals.
  • Trade specific crafted droids to NPCs at the Cantina Shop in exchange for Kyber Crystals.

Awaken the droid at Huyang’s workbench

Assign the inactive droid to a companion slot so it accompanies you.
Go downstairs to Professor Huyang’s workbench and select “Activate Kyber Droid,” then choose the inactive companion from the list.

Pay the activation fee based on rarity. Huyang awakens the droid into a random color, and the “KYBER ACTIVATED!” message confirms it worked.

The color is randomized at activation, so you cannot pick Green, Blue, or Purple directly. Expect to awaken plenty of droids to fill out all three color trackers.

Unlock the Kyber lightsabers

In Huyang’s chamber, displays mounted on the walls show progress by color. Awakening a droid updates its corresponding tracker—for instance, Green advances from 1/20 to 2/20.

The wall trackers count unique droids per color, shown here at 2/20 Green. Shown at 04:45 in Loot Dad’s video.

Each lightsaber requires 20 different Kyber droids matching its color. Having duplicate copies of one model won’t increase the total, so awaken 20 separate droid types in Green, 20 in Blue, and 20 in Purple to earn all three lightsabers on the display wall.

Collect the Galactic Workshop base paints

Alongside the lightsabers, the Galactic Workshop paint menu offers three Kyber base paints. These reward volume rather than variety, counting every awakened droid of a color instead of only unique models.

Base paintRequirement
Kyber Green PaintCollect 60 Green Kyber Droids
Kyber Blue PaintCollect 60 Blue Kyber Droids
Kyber Purple PaintCollect 60 Purple Kyber Droids

Because activation color is random, the fastest path is a steady rhythm: craft blueprints from the belt or a Kyber Surge, restock Kyber Crystals through World Missions and Cantina trades, and awaken droids in batches. The trackers and paint counters climb with every activation, and the lightsabers appear on the wall once each color reaches its 20-unique threshold.
