Deskrawl Idle ARPG: How to Level Up and Progress Fast

Prioritize attack speed and crit chance, upgrade weapons at the Blacksmith Shop, and stack gear with XP and sustain perks.

Progression in Deskrawl: Idle ARPG runs on a single number: kills. The more enemies you drop, the faster your hero levels, which then lets you handle tougher packs that pay out even more experience. The catch is that early kills come slowly until you build the damage to speed them up, so the whole loop hinges on how fast you can turn attacks into dead enemies.

Quick answer: Put your first talent points into Attack Speed and Critical Hit chance, upgrade your weapon at the Blacksmith Shop to raise Attack Power, then equip gear that adds XP gain and restores Health and Mana on kill.

How leveling works in Deskrawl

Experience is tied directly to the enemies your hero defeats. Combat runs on its own along the bottom of your desktop, so the pace of your leveling is really the pace of your kills. Faster clears mean faster levels, and higher levels let you push into zones with stronger enemies and better payouts.

That is why raw damage output matters more than any single flashy stat early on. Everything below feeds the same goal: shorten the time it takes to clear each pack so the level-ups keep coming.

First talent points: Attack Speed and Critical Hit chance

Spend your earliest talent points on Attack Speed first. More attacks per second means more hits landing on every enemy, which directly shortens each fight.

Follow that with Critical Hit chance. Every attack rolls for a crit, so the more often you swing, the more crits you land. Stacking attack speed and crit chance together compounds your damage far faster than pouring points into a single stat.

Treat these two as a pair rather than a choice. Attack Speed increases the number of chances to crit, and Critical Hit chance makes each of those chances hit harder.

Raise Attack Power through weapons and gear

Your Attack Power is the backbone of your damage, and the fastest way to raise it is at the Blacksmith Shop. Upgrading your weapon there increases Attack Power directly, so keep feeding it whenever you can afford an upgrade.

Beyond the weapon itself, gear dropped as loot can carry passive perks that push Attack Power higher. A pair of gloves that boosts crit damage, for example, can add +3 to Attack Power on its own. Read the perks on every drop and favor pieces that add offense over ones that only look like an upgrade by rarity.

Stack XP gain and sustain on your armor

Damage speeds up your kills, but XP perks multiply what each kill is worth. Armor pieces can roll a secondary bonus such as +2% XP, and those percentages add up when you collect several of them. Prioritize gear with XP perks alongside your damage pieces to get the most out of every clear.

Survivability keeps the loop running while you are away from the screen. Look for armor that restores Health and Mana whenever you defeat an enemy. A build that heals itself on kill can keep grinding unattended instead of dying and stalling your progress.

The stats to chase, in short:

  • Attack Speed and Critical Hit chance from talents.
  • Attack Power from Blacksmith weapon upgrades and gear perks.
  • XP gain as a secondary roll on armor.
  • Health and Mana restore on kill for unattended survival.

How to tell it is working

You will know the build is coming together when enemy packs die noticeably faster and your hero gains levels without you babysitting the fight. The stage victory screen reports the time, gold, and XP earned per clear, so a shrinking clear time and steady level-ups are the clearest signs your damage, XP, and sustain choices are paying off.
