Blackbird arrives in Neverness to Everness as the game’s first limited Psyche character, an S-Rank Damage unit with the Gas arc type who can flex between main DPS and sub-DPS. She is the witch of the Witch’s House in the Bridge Crossings district and a member of the Yggash Court, but on the battlefield she matters for one reason: high, flexible Psyche damage backed by a team-wide buff.
Quick answer: Yes. Blackbird is one of the strongest units in the game and the best sub-DPS for the foreseeable future. Pull her if you want a Psyche carry with fast rotations, and grab her signature arc if you plan to run her as a full main DPS.

What Blackbird does in combat
Blackbird runs on a Malice mechanic. In her base state, her basic attacks, plunging attacks, dodge counters, and parries build Malice, which she then spends after transforming to add extra damage. Her Redirect Skill, Netherplume Rite, marks enemies with a Forsaken Feather. While that mark is active, damage from your on-field character triggers a Forsaken Bird coordinated attack, so Blackbird keeps dealing area Psyche damage even after you swap her out.
Her Ultimate, Requies Animarum, turns her into the Witch of Deliverance. This mode swaps her basic attacks and skills for stronger versions, buffs the whole team’s attack, and makes her immune to interruption during the transformation. The transformation timer also pauses whenever she leaves the field, so you do not have to build your rotation around a strict window.
The standout trait is Instant Cycle. Her Redirect Skill fills the cycle energy gauge instantly, giving the team another Esper Cycle every rotation. That makes her extremely valuable in quickswap teams and in compositions built around reaction triggers.

Add to Google Preferences →Reasons to pull for Blackbird
- Her passive effects increase damage from both Stain and Nova, making her a strong fit for teams focused on either reaction.
- She works as a pure main DPS or as a support/sub-DPS depending on how you build her.
- Her first Ultimate grants a team-wide attack buff, adding support value on top of her own damage.
- The Instant Cycle trait means she needs little field time when played off-field as a sub-DPS.
- Enhancing Nova raises team damage and allows Discord to trigger more often.
The main drawback
To play her as a proper main DPS, you really want her signature arc, Crime and Punishment. Without it, her personal damage ceiling drops, and her full combat kit cannot be squeezed out at A0 without swap-cancelling. If you only want her supporting role, this is far less of an issue.

Best Blackbird build
| Slot | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Arc | Crime and Punishment |
| Cartridge | Devil’s Blood: Curse |
| Bonus module | Type III — CRIT DMG |
| Sub stats | Crit Rate > Crit DMG > DMG Bonus > Cycle Intensity |
Crime and Punishment is her top arc, offering base attack, crit rate, Cycle Intensity, and a 20% Psyche DMG bonus. Either segment of her Ultimate activates its teamwide crit-damage effect. If you don’t have it, Good Boy’s Grand Adventure, Cosmos Daze, Wild Reverie, and Failing You, Heavy in My Heart are alternatives, with Good Boy’s Grand Adventure best suited to her support role.
Devil’s Blood: Curse is the obvious cartridge choice. It gives 10% Psyche DMG and an 18% damage increase, which becomes 36% against enemies under Nova or Stain. The 36% value replaces the 18% instead of adding to it.
Build crit as a damage carry, but if you are running her purely for support, prioritize Cycle Intensity instead.

Best Blackbird teams
Blackbird specializes in Stain and Nova teams, which gives her a wide range of comps. Her strongest lineup pairs her with Lacrimosa as the carry and Sakiri as support.
| DPS | Sub-DPS | Support / Sub-DPS | Support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lacrimosa | Blackbird | Daffodil | Sakiri |
| Chaos | Blackbird | Hathor | Esper Zero |
| Hathor | Blackbird | Hotori | Linko |
You can swap Chaos in as main DPS over Lacrimosa, or Hathor in as sub-DPS over Daffodil. Linko and Esper Zero also slot in cleanly for teams that lean on frequent Esper Cycles.

Banner and release window
Blackbird headlines the Foretold Finale banner in Version 1.4 Phase 1, which becomes available on September 30, 2026, after the update goes live. A Lacrimosa rerun runs alongside her. The banner is scheduled to close on October 21, 2026, when Version 1.4 Phase 2 begins with Akane Rin.
You will know a pull succeeded when Blackbird appears in your character roster tagged as an S-Rank Psyche unit, at which point you can equip her arc, cartridge, and modules and start slotting her into the teams above. If you already have a well-built Psyche main DPS, she can sit lower on your priority list unless you specifically want her playstyle. For everyone else building a Psyche core or chasing fast-rotation, reaction-based teams, she is one of the most rewarding pulls in Version 1.4.
