Duty quests are the repeatable endgame loop in Aion 2, split into daily Duty Missions you pull from your journal and weekly Duty Commands you buy as scrolls. Both feed the currencies and tickets that keep your character growing after the level cap, which is why they become a routine login task rather than optional content.

Quick answer: Hit level 45, finish your faction’s Episode quest, then enter the Abyss (requires 1,000 Gear Score). Open the Quest Journal with J to claim up to 5 Duty Missions daily, and buy Command Scrolls for up to 20 Duty Commands weekly.

How to unlock Duty quests in Aion 2

The Duty system switches on the moment you reach level 45 and step into the Abyss. Getting there takes three things in order, and you cannot skip ahead of the Abyss gate.

Reach level 45, the current cap. You will run into the Abyss naturally while clearing the main story, so this usually lines up with normal progression.
Finish the Episode quest tied to your faction. Elyos players clear Draupnir, while Asmodian players clear Forgotten Commander. Both lead you to the portal that connects to the Abyss.
Enter the Abyss. The portal will not accept you until you have at least 1,000 Gear Score, so raise your Belt and Amulet and collect Daevanion Points and Wisdom Stones from Strongholds and Sealed Dungeons first. You can also open the Abyss from the in-game menu once you qualify.

Once you are inside the Abyss for the first time, the Duty quests appear in your Quest Journal (J on PC) and stay available from then on.

Duty Missions vs Duty Commands

Both branches live under the same Duty system, but they run on different timers and limits. Missions are the quick daily grind; Commands are tougher weekly commissions you buy ahead of time.

Duty Missions are everyday bounties. Log in, pick five, and most clear in under 20 minutes. The daily cap is tied to your account and server, so stacking alt characters will not raise your limit.

Duty Commands are scroll-based and harder. Instead of pulling them from the journal, you visit a Command Merchant, buy the scrolls, and use them from your inventory whenever you want. Because the scrolls sit safely in your bag, there is no rush — stockpile them and clear them any time before the weekly reset.

Which Duty rewards to prioritize

Both branches hand out overlapping loot, so pick the quests whose reward pools lean toward the items below. These are the payouts that directly push your endgame power.

Odyle Energy

Opening Reward Cubes earned from Expeditions, Conquests, Transcendence, and Sanctuary dungeons costs Odyle Energy; it functions as stamina and serves no other purpose. Their contents include equipment to wear or break down for additions to your skin collection. Odyle Energy has a finite supply, so hold onto amounts gained through Duty quests for access to endgame dungeons at any time. Its limit is 560 Odyle Energy, rising to 840 with membership.

Soul Crystals

Soul Crystals go straight into the Genus Insight (Pet) board, where they roll passive combat stats onto your character. Favor quests that reward a spread of different Soul Crystals, as Genus Insight is one of the larger levers on your Combat Power.

Nightmare and Ascension Trial Tickets

Nightmare and Ascension Trials are limited weekly activities that grant crafting and enhancing materials, plus Wings from the shop. Their admission tickets only refresh weekly, so pulling extra tickets from Duty quests effectively buys you more runs than the weekly allowance alone.

Kina and Abyss Points

Kina from Duty Missions is smaller than what Expeditions pay, but it comes faster and stacks up over a week of dailies. Duty Commands also award Abyss Points and Abyssal Power Shards, which support Abyss-side progression.

How to read reward odds and reroll

Every Duty quest can drop up to five rewards, but the slots are not equal. The leftmost random reward is a guaranteed drop, and the chance falls off toward the right, so the rightmost item has the lowest odds. Click the small percent icon under the random rewards to see the exact rates before you commit.

If the quests on offer only show low-tier loot, reroll the list. You can refresh the full set of Duty Missions up to 10 times with Kina for a flat fee. Command rerolls cost more each time you use them, climbing to 300,000 Kina.

A quest with a 33% chance at a reward you want is usually worth taking. Even when your target sits in a low-odds slot, grab the quest if nothing better is available, since every quest can still spill extra rewards.

How to confirm Duty quests are active

You will know the system is unlocked when Duty quests appear inside your Quest Journal after your first trip into the Abyss. From there, the daily counter tops out at five Missions and the weekly counter at 20 Commands, and both reset on their own timers. If the journal shows no Duty entries, you have either not reached level 45, not finished your faction’s Episode quest, or not yet cleared the 1,000 Gear Score requirement to enter the Abyss.
