Soul Crystals power the Genus Insight system in AION 2, the pet-based progression track that grants permanent stat bonuses to your character. You spend them to reroll the stats tied to each pet family, so a steady supply matters once you start tuning your build. There is no single field spot that hands out every type, which is why combining a few repeatable sources works far better than grinding one zone.
Quick answer: Pull Soul Crystals from pet collection milestones, the two Fossa quests, the Odylium Repository daily dungeon, pet-related achievements, Hidden Cubes, the Daeva Pass, and the Festival Shop. Milestones and achievements give the largest bundles.
What Soul Crystals do in AION 2
Soul Crystals are the material spent when you analyze Pet Genus Insight. Each analysis rolls the stat nodes on a genus wheel, and those stats apply even when the pet is not summoned. There are five family-specific crystals plus a wildcard version that can stand in for any of them.

All crystal types are Special grade, usable from level 1, and cannot be traded. The wildcard is the most flexible because it covers families that are hard to farm through ordinary field enemies, so hold it back rather than spending it on a family you can grind directly.
Save your wildcard stock for the Special family. Standard field monsters can feed the other four families, but the Special pets have no monster soul drops at all.
Pet collection milestones
Collecting pets is the largest single source of wildcard crystals. The collection pays out 100 Soul Crystal (Bound) at the 5, 10, 20, 30, and 40 pet marks, then switches to 10 Empathy Candy at 50 pets. Because every mount in the game needs exactly five souls, and most farmable mounts drop one soul per kill, filling early milestones is fast and funds your first rounds of Genus Insight rolls.
Focus on collecting new pets rather than hammering a single monster. Each milestone bundle can be saved and spent on whichever genus you want to improve, including the harder-to-supply Special family.
Quests that reward Soul Crystals
Two regional quests each hand over 10 Soul Crystal (Bound) on completion. Both unlock at level 10 and are recommended for level 16, and they split by faction.

Searching for an Escaped Fossa (Elyos)
Hithanya offers this quest at the Dawn Legion Base in Verteron. Track the tamed Fossa after it assaults a legionnaire, then bolts toward Eastern Cantas Valley. Report back to Minos at the Eastern Cantas Campsite. Besides the crystals, the quest rewards you with 14,000 Kina (Bound), a Wisdom Stone, a Daevanion Crystal, the Lingering Warmth title, and the Dawn Earrings.
Missing Mount (Asmodian)
Hadala gives this quest at Safe Haven in Altgard. You go looking for Dinoh, who chased a runaway Fossa toward the Crash Site Cliffs and got hurt fighting a Klaw. Return to Tomgus at Safe Haven to finish it. The rewards match the Elyos version apart from the accessory, handing over the Old Mercenary Commander Earrings.
Odylium Repository daily dungeon
Once unlocked, the Odylium Repository is the quickest repeatable way to earn Soul Crystals, giving multiple pet chests and crystals per daily dungeon run. Daily dungeons unlock at level 30. Pet souls also drop there, helping grow your collection even when the crystal type you need isn’t among the rewards.
Pet achievements
Many pet and Genus Insight achievements award wildcard crystals across their tiers. The “All of the Cogni Power Combined” line, for example, pays Soul Crystal (Bound) at every step as you raise more Cogni pets to level 2, scaling from 10 per tier up to 15 at the higher tiers. The Fera, Natura, and Varian lines work the same way.
Open the main menu, go to Achievement, then choose Collect All to claim the rewards. They appear at the screen’s lower-right. If you don’t see any, review the list and complete pet-related entries to earn additional crystals.
Surplus souls from maxed pet families
Field monsters generally yield pet souls, not crystals. When a pet is at its level cap, any further souls for that finished pet are converted into the corresponding genus Soul Crystal. This makes previously farmed areas useful for crystals again.
In the Pets menu, choose a pet and consult its Source details to find the enemy to hunt. The entry gives the monster’s name and spawn area. Focus on those enemies rather than other mobs to collect the souls you need.
Dungeon monster drops
Several level 45 enemies drop the wildcard Soul Crystal (Bound) directly, each at a 5.78% chance per kill, which works out to around 39 kills for a 90% chance. These spawn inside dungeons rather than the open world. You will find them in the Fafnite Amphitheater and Silent Graveyard growth dungeons, among enemies such as the Addicted Shulak Worker, Ore Insectoid, and Faded Mutant lines.
Hidden Cubes
Hidden Cubes sit across the map, marked by their red color, often near cliffs and ruins. Opening them can yield Soul Crystals along with bundles of pet souls that support your collection. Some cubes need a Key: Hidden Cube (Bound), so confirm the requirement before travelling.
You can get the key from quests, achievements, the Season Shop consumables tab, the A2 Mileage and Tsenka Merchants shops, Monoliths, Daily Attendance, and reward chests.
Daeva Pass and the Festival Shop
The Daeva Pass includes Soul Crystals among its Ishalgen Mercenary season levels, and buying the paid track multiplies those rewards. Open the main menu, choose Subscribe (or press G on PC), enter the Ishalgen Mercenary season pass, and collect the levels you have earned.
The Festival Shop sells Soul Crystal (Bound) for 50 Centuryroot Token each, up to 100 per purchase, with a limit of 30 per character that resets monthly. Centuryroot Token comes from the Shugo Festival.
Spending Soul Crystals without wasting them
For each Genus Insight analysis, spend four Soul Crystals of the corresponding type, or use the wildcard as a replacement, along with Kina. Rolling a slot increases that genus’s level; levels 1 through 9 each add a node slot, for a total of nine at the maximum. Since higher levels provide access to stronger stat pools, build up the genus before pursuing ideal individual rolls.
You can lock stats you want to keep, but locking raises the crystal and Kina cost of every further roll on that wheel. Locking several slots at once can send a single attempt into the hundreds of crystals, so roll freely while leveling and only lock standout results on a build you have settled on.
How to analyze Genus Insight
You know a roll landed when the node stats on the wheel change and the EXP bar advances. A level-up shows an on-screen banner, such as “Cogni Pet Genus Insight Level Up,” confirming the genus reached its new level and opened another slot.
