Try To Reach The Final Island: How to Upgrade Your Ship and Fly Faster

Pick the gain interval reduction on every island, then boost across the gap to bank each new upgrade reward.

Speed is the only currency that matters in Try To Reach The Final Island. Your plane launches farther the more speed you bank, and every island hands you a free upgrade that pushes that number higher. Choosing the right one each time is what decides whether you crawl across a 700-stud gap or sail past an 11,000-stud stretch.

Quick answer: On every island, open the shop and take the free “Reduce the gain interval by 0.1 seconds” upgrade, then board the plane, trigger Pilot, and hold Shift to boost across to the next island.

How speed is earned

Your speed climbs on its own at a fixed rate shown above your character, such as +18 Speed/s. That passive gain is credited on a timer, and the progress bar at the bottom of the screen fills toward the next threshold, for example 136 / 1K.

You can also add speed by hand. A circular “CLICK!” button appears on screen from time to time, and tapping it drops an instant boost like +18 Speed or +24 Speed straight into your total. Working the click button while you wait is the fastest way to top up before a launch.

Pick the gain interval reduction first

Each island has a shop stall marked by a yellow “SHOP” arrow. Open it and you can choose one item for free per island, confirmed by the line “You can choose one item for free per island.” The three free options you see are usually a passive gain boost, a click gain boost, and a gain interval reduction.

Take “Reduce the gain interval by 0.1 seconds” every time it appears. The interval is the delay between passive speed ticks, and shaving it below 1.0 second means speed is credited more often. Over a full run that compounding beats a one-time flat bump, which is why it wins out against the passive and click options early on.

Here is how the three free choices compare on an early island like Island 7 and 8:

Once a free pick is spent, that island shows “FREE CHOICE USED” and the card reads “Chosen”, so you cannot reclaim it. Make the interval choice before you leave.

Robux perks in the shop

Beyond the free slot, the shop stocks extra abilities you unlock with Robux. These are optional and do not block normal progress, but several directly change how far and how easily the ship travels.

Some of these are gated behind each other. Turbo ring perks show “Unlock turbo rings first”, and spark perks show “Unlock sparks first”, so you buy the base ability before the follow-ups open up.

Launch the plane and cross to the next island

Once your free upgrade is locked in, you fly. Floating waypoints in the sky show the gap ahead, labelled with the target island and its distance, such as “ISLAND 9 LONG DISTANCE 11939 STUDS”. Build speed first if the next jump is a long one.

Walk onto the circular glowing pad on the aircraft marked “PILOT”. Stepping on it boards the plane and starts the flight sequence.
Hold Shift as you launch. This engages the boost and gives the ship a purple trail, carrying it across the gap. The higher your banked speed, the farther it flies before dropping.

Land on the target island and press F to dismount. Head to that island’s shop stall to take its free upgrade, then repeat the cycle for the next jump.

Confirming the upgrade landed

Reaching a new island triggers the “CHOOSE ONE PER ISLAND” menu on arrival. Selecting a reward here raises your stats and shows a popup such as “+18 Speed/s” with “UPGRADE +1”. Your speed counter ticks up straight after, for example from SPEED 17 to SPEED 18.

That rising Speed/s figure and a faster progress bar are your proof the upgrade stacked. Keep taking the interval reduction on every island, boost across each gap, and claim each arrival reward, and the ship clears longer and longer distances on its way toward the final island.
