Valor Mortis has 39 achievements and trophies, and none of them can be missed. The game is a single-player, first-person soulslike from One More Level, and every unlock can be mopped up after you beat the final boss, so there is no need to split your run or worry about locking yourself out.
Quick answer: Beat the story bosses, upgrade one weapon of each type to max, gather all 29 Ambers, finish six side quests, and knock out a handful of combat stunts. Everything is doable in one playthrough.

The set breaks down into 1 Platinum, 3 Gold, 14 Silver, and 21 Bronze. On Steam, 16 of the 39 stay hidden until they unlock: the ten boss achievements, Birdwatcher, and five of the side quest achievements (The Bitter Cure, Blood and Wine, Hand in the Jar, Aggressive Reconnaissance and The Book of Beasts). As of 14 October 2026, the day after launch, the most common unlocks on Steam were Rookie Mistake (44.2% of players), Aggressive Reconnaissance (34.3%), In the Nick of Time (33.5%) and Mind the Gap (33.1%), while 23.4% had beaten General Lothaire for Torn Banner. Bronze covers story milestones and combat feats, Silver covers chapter bosses and upgrades, and Gold is tied to end-game collection and clean-up.

Add to Google Preferences →Boss trophies you earn from the story
Every main boss is unmissable, so these trophies unlock simply by finishing the game. You will fight General Lothaire the Eagle-Bearer (Torn Banner), The Iron Marshall (Ultima Ratio Regum), the Sphinx (Not a Cat Person), the Slaughtermill (Quixotry), the Bride (My Dying Bride), Justicar Aurelius (True Oath), Experiment 83 (Lament of the Limbs), the Orphan (Coup de Grâce), Nephtis Superioris (Behemoth), and the Entity (In His Own Image). Birdwatcher pops when you rendezvous with the Shrike near the end of the City.
Parrying is the fastest route through most of these fights. Against The Iron Marshall you can also trigger the explosive barrels around the arena and shoot its weak points to build extra Nephtoglobin.
Arsenal Absolute is also effectively a story unlock. Nearly every weapon and transmutation is tied to an ability you need to progress, and the handful that are not sit in plain sight along the critical path. The last one you receive is the Shield Transmutation.
Side quest trophies and where they start
Six side quests each hand you a trophy on completion, and a few also reward Ambers that count toward Ambersmith. None can be failed, so you can finish them after the credits during free roam.
- We Wear the Same Colours (Oathbound): defeat all 7 Eternal Guards hidden across the chapters. Each one sits near a chalk symbol drawn on a wall that points you toward it.
- A Bitter Cure (Laudanum): the quest giver is in one of the buildings near the Market Square lantern in the Outskirts.
- The Book of Beasts (Monster Hunt): pick up any poster in the city, then find all 17 drawings before handing it in.
- Blood and Wine (Curious Case of Seamus Diggory): complete the associated quest line.
- Hand in the Jar (Deserter): complete the associated quest line.
- Aggressive Reconnaissance (Unheard Farewell): complete the associated quest line.

Collectible and upgrade trophies
Ambersmith asks for all 29 different Ambers, the equipable buff items that work like rings in other soulslikes. Fifteen of the 29 have two extra copies for upgrading them to level three, but one copy of each of the 29 is all you need for the trophy. They come from chests, tougher enemies, and quest rewards.
For Bladesmith, Gun of Glory, and Transmutation Artifex you only need to push a single weapon of each type to max. The final upgrade tier requires a rare material, and there are exactly three of each in the game, one per weapon of that type.
Gun of Glory (Masterwork Firearm Parts)
One Masterwork Firearm Part is behind the gate next to the City of Orphans Sewers lantern, which may need the story-issued Sewers key found in the same area. Another is tied to The King of Smugglers quest, which starts from a note in a house along the poisoned path from the Outskirts Harbour lantern (the Shield Transmutation is required to cross). A third sits in a chest under a ladder in a large circular room off the poison corridor in the University.
Transmutation Artifex (Quintessential Transmutation Material)
One is the reward for finishing the Monster Hunt quest. Another is in the University, reached by riding the chandelier lift up a floor and burning the growth to open the chest. The third is in the chest between the double gates in the Fortress, which only open after you light both signal fires reached from the Fortress Traverse lantern.
Bladesmith (Quintessential Blade Material)
One is in a chest in the room where the Oathbound quest ends. Another is inside the chest in the Lighthouse in the Outskirts, the Experiment 83 arena. The third is in a poison-filled room reached by backtracking from the Fortress Traverse lantern, swinging across on the blue node, and taking the right-hand path at the three-way split.

Combat feat trophies and how to set them up
The combat stunts are easiest when you return to a low-level area, such as the village full of weak enemies, after you have unlocked the abilities they need.
- Symphony of Steel: use the Rapier, unlocked after the Church, against a slow villager or low-level soldier and parry 10 hits cleanly.
- God’s Trigger: land 10 headshots in a row, easiest with stealth hits in early levels or during the Musket section at the military camp.
- Aerial Annihilation and Windhover: unlock Airborne Aiming (around level 15) to slow time in the air. The Outskirts Beach has plenty of wall-run and grapple spots over weak, head-weak enemies.
- Scattershot: group five enemies, weaken them with the Pistol or fire first, then finish with one Blunderbuss blast. The explosive-barrel area at the Valley of Ashes works well.
- Hoodsnatcher: heavy-attack three clustered villagers with the Claymore, softening them with light hits first if needed.
- Flame Feast: catch four enemies in one Flamethrower burst in a crowded spot like the village or city.
- Fight Fire With Fire: let a torch-bearing villager ignite you, then ignite them with the Fire Transmutation or Fire Whetstone.
- Abyssal Eviction: with the Shield Transmutation, bash an enemy off the map, easiest at the collapsed bridges before the City.
- Single Stroke: shoot the bucket below a Risen Grenadier’s waist with the Pistol or Musket, ideally as it winds up to throw.
- Jack-knife: after unlocking the Shield Transmutation, deal damage with every melee weapon, firearm, and transmutation in one life.
To earn Statue of Insanity, use Stasis Transmutation to fully solidify Sergeant Gaspard ‘Cannonhand’ Dubois, a Remnant of the Iron Regiment enemy whose body has cannons built into it. You can find one at the Silent Cannons lantern. The lock requires 5 Stasis charges; keep them up with Life Diverted amber to restore Nephtoglobin, or shoot the enemy’s weak spots.
The three throwaway trophies round out the set. Mind the Gap wants you to die falling into the abyss. Rookie Mistake fires when you try to use a Ferro Flask with none left. In the Nick of Time triggers when you interact with a lantern below 20% health with no flasks remaining, which is simplest to stage by letting a weak enemy chip you down first.

Frenzied Flame: ignite the bonfire in the castle
In Chapter 10 (Fortress), the hidden bonfire is accessible once you have unlocked the Chapel lantern. Without that lantern, begin at Traverse, make your way across the outer ruins and the stone ledges beside the fortress wall, then drop into the inner courtyard and pull the tendril barrier to rekindle Chapel.

How to know you are done
Nephtis Superioris, the Platinum, unlocks automatically the instant the other 38 are in the bag. A full clear runs roughly 20 to 25 hours across a single playthrough, and since nothing is missable, you can confirm your progress by tracking which bosses, side quests, upgrades, and feats are still greyed out, then return to free roam to clean up whatever remains.
