Buddha and the Cat is an encounter quest set at Seedling Temple in the Qingzhou Eastern Peak region of Where Winds Meet. It centers on a troubled sculptor, Lin Shuang, who has lost the will to restore a damaged Buddha statue, and on the misunderstanding between him and Abbot Daokong over a stray white cat named Qingqing. Completing it takes two dialogue choices and two uses of the in-game time wheel.

Quick answer: Talk to Lin Shuang, deliver his message to Daokong with “The Buddha does not see all mortal beings,” resolve the cat riddle with “‘Yes’ is the same as ‘no,’” then skip 1 day and later 3 days to attend the Sutra Lecture.

Where to start the Buddha and the Cat encounter

Travel to Seedling Temple, which sits inside Qingzhou Eastern Peak. Reaching the temple entrance unlocks its teleport point, so you can fast-travel back if the time skips move you away. The encounter tracker names the quest once you are nearby, and the opening prompt reads, “How can one find a perfect path in this world, to honor the Buddha without forsaking you?”

The temple restricts some movement skills, including Lightness Skills, Climb, Wallstride and Sky Tether, so plan to move on foot inside the grounds.

Watch the courtyard scene where the white cat Qingqing darts from the bushes, revealing that Lin Shuang has quietly been caring for her. On the steps, choose “‘Yes’ is the same as ‘no’” to settle the philosophical disagreement between the two men.
Speak with Lin Shuang again as he kneels and pets Qingqing. He confirms that he has chosen to bring balance to his life and resume carving.

Skip time to finish the encounter

The final stretch relies on the in-game time wheel rather than more travel. You advance the clock twice and return to the hall each time.

Exit the hall and open the time interface, then skip forward 1 day (24 hours). A carrier pigeon arrives with the “Letter from the Abbot of Seedling Temple,” confirming Lin Shuang has gone back to carving.

Re-enter the prayer hall to see Lin Shuang restoring the Buddha statue with Qingqing resting beside him. Leave the temple grounds to trigger the objective “Wait three days for the Sutra Lecture.”
Open the time system again and rotate the dial forward 3 days, then step back into the hall to attend the Sutra Lecture delivered by Daokong in front of the fully restored golden Buddha statue.
