Jing Yuan’s Ex-Eidolon Buff in Honkai: Star Rail 4.7, Explained

A new EX slot adds extra Lightning-Lord hits and more damage, with one free pick tied to a 4.7 activity.

A new EX slot adds extra Lightning-Lord hits and more damage, with one free pick tied to a 4.7 activity.

Honkai: Star Rail’s 4.7 beta data describes a new way to strengthen older five-star characters that doesn’t involve pulling extra copies. It’s called the Ex-Eidolon, and it sits as an additional rank on a character’s Eidolon page. Jing Yuan is one of the first three units lined up for it, and early footage of his version in action has started circulating ahead of the patch.

Quick answer: Jing Yuan’s Ex-Eidolon, One Quiet Cup of Thunder, unlocks in an EX slot placed after E6 using a new material. It increases his damage and adds extra Lightning-Lord hits per action when he uses his Skill or Ultimate.

What the Ex-Eidolon slot adds

The current Eidolon screen shows EX as a bonus slot after E1 through E6. Unlike standard Eidolons, it needs no duplicate character copies to unlock. Instead, it uses a new material depicted by a diamond icon, which earlier leaks associated with top-up events.

Beta file text ties the slot to two labels, EXTRA RANK and ENHANCED PASSIVE. Activating it grants a new passive buff along with fresh UI, animation, and sound effects for the character. Three limited five-stars are named in the data for the first wave: Acheron, Jing Yuan, and Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae.

This system is sourced from 4.7 beta data and is slated for a future test build, with no confirmed release window. Numbers and behavior can change before it ships.

Jing Yuan’s Ex-Eidolon: One Quiet Cup of Thunder

Jing Yuan’s Ex-Eidolon is named One Quiet Cup of Thunder. Its text raises his damage dealt and adds extra Lightning-Lord hits per action whenever he uses his Skill or Ultimate. That lines up directly with how his kit already works, since his main damage comes from the Lightning-Lord’s follow-up attacks rather than his own strikes.

Jing Yuan’s Skill grants the Lightning-Lord 2 extra Hits Per Action on its next turn, while his Ultimate supplies 3, up to a maximum of 10. Each hit applies another full instance of its roughly 66% ATK multiplier, making the total damage increase proportionally with the hit count. The Ex-Eidolon adds to this setup by raising damage and speeding up the Lightning-Lord’s next action.

Getting one Ex-Eidolon for free in 4.7

Alongside the system, the beta describes an activity where players select one of the three listed characters, similar to earlier events that handed out a unit such as Gilgamesh or a 4.0 character. This points to one Ex-Eidolon being given for free. The other two among Acheron, Jing Yuan, and Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae are expected to require top-up or paid methods to obtain.

For version context, 4.6 runs Pearl, Evanescia, and Mortenax Blade until November 10th, after which 4.7 begins with Aha. The Ex-Eidolon selection activity is attached to that later window rather than the current patch.

The Memory of Chaos run with the buffed Jing Yuan

An early preview puts a modified Ex-Eidolon Jing Yuan into Memory of Chaos next to Robin • Summeretto, Mortenax Blade, and Sunday across two challenge stages. The footage is a modded demonstration rather than live gameplay, so it serves as a look at how the buff plays out rather than final tuning.

The first stage opens against Furiae Praetor and an accompanying enemy. A burned-in tip notes that firing the Ultimate immediately would overcap the damage, so it’s held for the second wave.

Wave two moves to The Giver: Master of Legions, Lance of Fury, with Robin’s buff rotations and Lightning-Lord attacks rolling in. The boss then enters Phase II, casting Calamity Eternal and summoning a breakable Titanic Corpus.

Destroying the Titanic Corpus deals bonus damage to enemies and regenerates energy for the whole party, which speeds up the team’s next round of Skills and Ultimates.

The second stage starts against Rocking Rebel and Dark Sun Gryphon, joined by Archer of the Dark Sun.

In the second wave, you face Harbinger of Death: Swarm Nightmare. Taking down the Juvenile Sting units it summons breaks the boss out of Gene Duplication. Jing Yuan enters a “Nemesis” state during this fight, allowing him to deal CRIT DMG while bypassing the enemy’s Rapid Evolution effect.

Jing Yuan’s build in the showcase

Jing Yuan equips his signature Light Cone, Before Dawn, with The Ashblazing Grand Duke in a 4-piece set and The Wondrous BananAmusement Park in a 2-piece set. This combination increases his follow-up attack damage and CRIT DMG, both valuable because Lightning-Lord hits count as follow-up attacks. His speed is high enough for Sunday to act right after him, granting extra actions without pushing the Lightning-Lord past its stack cap.

The supports round out a standard hyper-carry shell. Robin • Summeretto handles team-wide buffing on the Remembrance path, Mortenax Blade adds Fire follow-up pressure, and Sunday advances Jing Yuan and amplifies his damage from the Harmony path. Those values reflect a modified preview build, so treat them as a demonstration of the kit rather than confirmed numbers.

Until the Ex-Eidolon reaches a live test build and HoYoverse confirms its effects, the exact multipliers and unlock requirements remain open. What’s clear from the current data is the shape of it: an optional EX rank, a new unlock material, and a free pick for one of Acheron, Jing Yuan, or Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae tied to a 4.7 activity.
